  • [01] MINISTER - ANTENNAS

Minister of Defence Costas Papacostas said on Saturday that the antennas installed by the Turks along the buffer zone in the villages of Dasaki tis Achnas and Mammari, violate the status quo.

Speaking to journalists after the liturgy for the New Year, Papacostas said that this was not a military matter, that the government is investigating the incident and will take action.

We are trying to look thoroughly into the matter, collect all the necessary information and investigate the Turkish allegations that the antennas were installed for telecommunication purposes. There is no need for people to worry, we are handling the situation," Papacostas added.

Invited to comment on information that the Turkish occupying forces were trying to install more antennas in other areas, the Minister said that the government has no such briefing.
