  • [01] PRESIDENT MESSAGE - RECONCILIATION

Cyprus President Demetris Christofias has sent a message of reconciliation and friendship between the Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots.

Speaking on Sunday, President Christofias said that these days of the year, the days of Christmas, are days of love and the only thing I wish to say is to send a message of love and reconciliation, a message of friendship between the Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots compatriots.

I will also wish to say that I will do my utmost in order our motherland to be reunified on the basis of principles and the Turkish occupation to be ended, President Christofias concluded.

The Greek Cypriot and the Turkish Cypriot sides have been engaged in direct negotiations since September 2008 to find a mutually agreed settlement that will reunify the country, divided since the Turkish invasion of the island in 1974.
