The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania, Dr Edmond Panariti, will pay an one-day official visit to Cyprus Thursday, at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, Dr Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis.

An official statement said Panariti's visit is a follow-up to Dr Kozakou-Marcoullis' visit to Tirana, last July, and is held in the framework of the significance attached by the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU to the European perspective of the countries of the Western Balkans. During his visit, Panariti will hold extensive talks with his Cypriot counterpart, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Albania's European perspective, bilateral relations' issues, the Cyprus problem, Turkey's threats against the sovereign rights of the Republic of Cyprus to explore and exploit its natural resources within its Exclusive Economic Zone and the volatile situation in Syria will be among the issues on the agenda for discussion.

After their meeting, the two Foreign Ministers will hold a joint Press conference and a working lunch hosted by Dr Kozakou-Marcoullis in honour of her Albanian counterpart will follow.
