    The EU maritime policy is the ideal vehicle to boost the Blue Economy in Europe, EU Commissioner for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Maria Damanaki told CNA

    In statements to CNA ahead of the adoption of the Limassol Declaration on the EU's Integrated Maritime Policy (IMP) that is expected to be presented at the two-day Informal Ministerial Meeting in Cyprus on October 7 and 8, Commissioner Damanakis said that "to make a reality of the growth trends and opportunities in the maritime economy, we need the input of all - institutions, Member States and regions, industry, SMEs and civil society".

    The EU Ministerial Conference will take place both in Nicosia and Limassol, on 7th and 8th October 2012 and it will be addressed by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Demetris Christofias, Commissioner Damanakis and the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso. The President of the EP along with MEPs actively involved in Integrated Maritime Policy have also been invited.
