  • [01] Cyprus' revised MFF discussed at COREPER level

The Cyprus EU Presidency's new revised negotiating box on the EU's next budget for 2014-2020 was discussed Wednesday for the first time on EU Permanent Representatives level (COREPER II).

CNA has learnt that although during the meeting the different approaches on the issue were once more highlighted, all delegations recognized the Presidency's difficult task especially during these difficult economic times.

Some member states expressed the view that the revised negotiating box is too conservative, asking for more cuts on the Commission's proposal. Other states asked for less cuts, in order to come closer to the Commission's initial proposal.
