[01] Mavroyiannis at the 38th EEA Council on behalf of Ashton
Deputy Minister for EU Affairs, Ambassador Andreas D. Mavroyiannis Monday
represented the EU at the 38th European Economic Area (EEA) Council,
on behalf of the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs
and Security Policy, Baroness Catherine Ashton.
According to a press release of the Cypriot EU Presidency, the EEA
Council's main issues of discussion were the operation of the EEA
Agreement, which was deemed to be working at a satisfactory level;
albeit some issues exists which need to be resolved.
An orientation debate also took place concerning trade and the relevant
rules that dictate the cooperation with countries of the Western Balkans
and of the EU's Eastern and Southern Neighbourhood. The EEA Council's
conclusions were also adopted.
[02] Cyprus Music School pupils perform in Brussels
The Cyprus EU Presidency organized on Monday evening in Brussels a Cyprus
Music School Performance.
The event was organized as part of cultural events of the Cyprus
Presidency taking place in Brussels and other major cities throughout
Europe.
In his address at the event, Minister of Education and Culture George
Demosthenous said that Music Schools have been established in Cyprus
as part of the Educational Reform Program that has been initiated by
the Ministry.
