  • [01] House President meets Greek FM

    House President Yiannakis Omirou received Friday Greek FM Evangelos Venizelos on his first visit to Cyprus, following the assumption of his duties as new FM and Vice President of the Greek Government. Cyprus problem , energy issues and current developments in the region were on the agenda of the meeting .

    Speaking to the press, House President emphasized on the messages conveyed with such meeting between the two governments, referring to messages of strength and determination as regard the national interests of both countries. He pointed out that amidst the financial crisis the two countries are faced with, Greece remains our number one ally in our efforts for a just and viable solution of the Cyprus problem.

    . Greek FM noted that the ties between the two countries and their people are strengthened because of the economic crisis. He noted that the people of Cyprus and Greece have sacrificed a great deal due to the crisis and cannot sacrifice more as regard their national interests. He also said that there must be a new momentum in the efforts to solve the Cyprus issue.
