[01] US Secretary of State says US stand in solidarity with Cyprus
US Secretary of State John Kerry said the United States stands in
solidarity with the people of Cyprus as they move forward in economic
recovery.
In a statement on the occasion of the anniversary of the Independence of
the Republic of Cyprus, Kerry expressed hope that renewed negotiations
between leaders from the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities
will bring about comprehensive settlement to reunify the island

The emblem of the Republic of Cyprus on the facade of the Presidential
Palace was unveiled Tuesday by President of the Republic Nicos
Anastasiades.
The unveiling ceremony took place in the presence of Greek Defense
Minister Demetris Avramopoulos, Archbishop of the Church of Cyprus
Chrysostomos II, members of the Cabinet, leaders and representatives
of political parties, chiefs of the National Guard and the Police and
members of the diplomatic corps.
In his speech, the Cypriot President said that the installation of
the emblem of the Republic of Cyprus at the Presidential Palace, "the
temple of democracy", was not only his own wish, but also a request of
many citizens.
[03] Fiscal deficit Jan - Aug reaches 2.05% of GDP
Cyprus' Fiscal Deficit for January - August 2013 reached 2.05% of GDP
compared with 3.03% GDP in the corresponding period of 2012, according
to figures released by the Finance Ministry.
Figures show that in the period of January - August Cyprus registered a
primary surplus of 103.848 million, which is well-within the target set
out by the fiscal adjustment programme providing for a primary deficit
of 395 million throughout 2013.
