  • [01] "Maritime Cyprus 2013" one of the most significant shipping conferences, says Mitsopoulos

    A major factor for the success of the "Maritime Cyprus 2013" Conference is the high calibre of the speakers and panelists, who share their expertise, Minister of Communications and Works Tasos Mitsopoulos has said.

    Addressing the guests, the Minister said having world class experts analyzing the current and crucial shipping issues is an important feature of the Conference, which led to its evolution into one of the world's most significant and most attended shipping Conferences.

    Mitsopoulos offered the participants a symbolic gift as a token of appreciation of their contribution to the "Maritime Cyprus 2013" Conference, which some 600 delegates are attending and which concludes tomorrow.

    [02] GB Governor at IMF and World Bank meetings

    Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus, Panicos Demetriades, is in Washington D.C. to participate in the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

    According to a press release, Demetriades will also participate in the meeting of the Central Bank Governors of those countries which are members of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington D.C.

    The discussions in the Annual Meetings of the two international organisations will focus on current issues of concern, such as the following: the global economic crisis, with emphasis on the euro area crisis; fiscal risks; the prospects and challenges for the recovery of financial stability; developments in international markets; debt restructuring and experiences of the recent past; and other related issues.
