    Ácting FM, Defence Minister Christoforos Fokaides, met on Monday with the Speaker of the Serbian Parliament Ìaja Gojkovic who is paying Cyprus a visit.

    On the agenda of the talks were bilateral relations, EU and regional issues of mutual interest.

    They also discussed Serbia`s EU course and Fokaides reassured of Cyprus` support.

    The Cyprus issue was also on the agenda.

    Gojkovic expressed her gratitude about Cyprus` support to her country`s EU course and pointed out that the need for a more enhanced cooperation. She also referred to the initiatives for a closer cooperation on parliamentary level.

    UNSG Special Envoy Espen Barth Eide has said he is encouraged by President Anastasiades` and Mustafa Akinci`s dedication and leadership in the Cyprus peace talks.

    In a tweet he posted on Monday he wrote: "Just concluded four Cyprus leaders` meetings in five days: Encouraged by the dedication & leadership of Mustafa Akinci and Nicos Anastasiades".

    President Anastasiades and T/c leader Akinci entered a new phase of intensified talks in October.

    There is sufficient progress so far in the course of the intensive phase of the negotiations that allow us to take the process to the next stage, which is the discussion of the chapter of territory, Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades said on Monday.

    In remarks on his return from Nicosia Airport after today's meeting with the Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci in the framework of the negotiations, the President also referred to the issue of settlers saying that the number he gave yesterday was wrong and that the right number does not exceed 40 thousand. At the same time he announced a Press Conference on November 3, 2016, where he will brief the people on the latest developments.

    [04] Cyprus and EIB to sign loan agreements amounting to €55 million

    Cyprus and the European Investment Bank (EIB) will sign to agreements for financing infrastructure projects amounting to €55 million.

    The two agreements concerning the financing of the construction of a water pipeline from the Vasilikos Desalination Unit to Nicosia (€40 mln) and of anti-flood projects in the framework of the Larnaca sewage system will be signed by Finance Minister Harris Georgiades the EIB Vice President Jonathan Talyor who will visit Cyprus on October 18, a press release issued today by the Finance Ministry writes.

    During his stay in Cyprus, Taylor, which will be accompanied by other EIB officials will hold a series of meetings with Georgiades with whom they will discuss issues concerning the cooperation between Cyprus and EIB as well as the bank`s activities in the context of the joint efforts to support the Cypriot economy, the press rele ...
