[01] Greek Cypriot soldier to be held another 8 days

According to illegal Bayrak radio (16:30 hours, 13.11.95), Greek Cypriot soldier Yeorghios Karotsakis, who was captured on 3 November by Denktash's regime, was brought before a "military court" yesterday where he was remanded in custody for another eight days. It was reported that the investigation in connection with Karotsakis is continuing and that he will be brought before a "court" again at the end of the remand period.

[02] Leader of Western Thrace support group wants resettlement of ethnic Turks to the occupied area

According to Turkish Daily News (13.1.95), speaking at a press conference, Muhittin Soyuturk, chairman of the Izmir branch of the Western Thrace Turks Solidarity Association, announced that negotiations will be held on the resettlement of the ethnic Turks from Western Thrace to the Varosha area in the occupied part of Cyprus.

"With the settlement of the Western Thrace Turks to the Varosha region, the Greek government will have to make great concessions in its assimilation policy on the Western Thrace Turks," Soyuturk claimed.

Soyuturk announced that his association will begin negotiations with Turkey and the pseudostate.

Young, educated Turks from Western Thrace are asking to move to the "TRNC", alleged Soyuturk.

"We have no other request from the governments than to become TRNC citizens and to settle there. We will take care of everything. The Western Thrace Turks cannot get Turkish citizenship and face great difficulties. We do not want them to be left without a land or a nation," Soyuturk alleged.

[03] Hikmet Cetin in the occupied area for UDI celebrations

According to KIBRIS (14.11.95), Hikmet Cetin, speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, will be arriving in the occupied area tomorrow to attend the celebrations for the illegal declaration of independence (UDI) of the pseudostate. Lieutenant-General Cevik Bir, deputy Chief of the Turkish General Staff, will be arriving in the occupied area today to attend the so-called celebrations and to have contacts with Denktash, other "officials" and the commander of the Turkish occupation forces in Cyprus.

Also arriving in the occupied area is the Secretary General of the National Security Council of Turkey, Lieutenant-General Ilhan Kilic. (NY)
