[A] TURKISH CYPRIOT / TURKISH PRESS[01] Eroglu accuses the Greek Cypriot side for the deadlock in the Cyprus negotiationsTurkish Cypriot daily Kibris newspaper (27.11.14) reports that Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu has accused the Greek Cypriot side of being responsible of the deadlock in the negotiations for finding a solution to the Cyprus problem and argued that no solution could be reached with preconditions and enforcement (of ideas).In statements yesterday after meeting the UN Secretary-General's Special Adviser on Cyprus, Eroglu said that the Greek Cypriot side asked for the withdrawal of the Turkish ships from Cyprus' Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and a commitment that these will not return again, in order for the recommencement of the negotiating process. "This is a unilateral pre-condition, enforcement", he alleged claiming that "it is not possible to reach a solution in Cyprus with enforcement [of ideas]". Eroglu argued that they expect from the Greek Cypriot side to accept the proposals which will come up during Espen Barth Eide's efforts and return to the negotiating table, noting that the Turkish Cypriot side is still at the table. Asked whether a meeting between the leaders could be materialized before April, Eroglu argued that this is what he wishes. Replying to another question, he noted that the "presidents of the two sides" are the ones who will sign a possible agreement and argued that he is the interlocutor of President Anastasiades. He alleged that as long as President Anastasiades says that "my interlocutor is Turkey", the lack of his will for an agreement is revealed. (I/Ts.) [02] Eide's statements described as pessimistic on the recommencement of the Cyprus talksUnder the title "It is difficult before April", Turkish Cypriot daily Havadis newspaper (27.11.14) reports that after meeting the community leaders, UN Secretary-General's Special Adviser on Cyprus, Espen Barth Eide has made pessimistic statements on the issue of the recommencement of the Cyprus negotiations soon. In statements after his meeting with the Turkish Cypriot leader, Dervis Eroglu, Eide noted that his original view has not been received with enthusiasm and added that he respects and understands this.Replying to a question, Eide said that his discussions here do not concern only the return to the negotiating table, but also what will be done when the sides get there. Responding to another question, he said that even though there is no agreement on the issue, he thinks that the sides could return to the negotiating table before the so-called presidential elections in the occupied area of Cyprus in April 2015 and argued that this is possible. Eide said that the reason for which one of the sides left the negotiating table is known, and that in principle Eroglu is at the negotiating table and waits for President Anastasiades. Eide expressed the view that everyone should do something to create the conditions for the sides resuming the negotiations. This is a point on which the concessions to be given by both sides will be tested, he argued, expressing the view that the arguments for a solution are "bigger" now comparing to the past. Eide noted that his duty is not to convince the sides to meet with each other, but to support them when is needed. He claimed that what he is doing now is outside his duties, pointing out that his actual duty is to assist the sides when they want to talk to each other. Eide said that he is informed about the content of the negotiations' chapters and added that the more he acquires information, the more he is convinced that there is nothing which cannot be solved, but as long as there is no mutual trust and will, nothing can be solved. Eide argued that both sides must give something in order for a wish and a will to be created. (I/Ts.) [03] Cicek asked Albania's support on the Cyprus problemAccording to Ankara Anatolia news agency (27.11.14), Turkish Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek met with Albania's Prime Minister, Edi Rama, and President, Bujar Nishani, on Wednesday.Cicek told reporters that he discussed the Armenian diaspora's intense efforts against Turkey in his meetings with Albanian officials. He claimed that there are those trying to deceive the world by leading them to believe that Turkey "committed genocide in 1915." "As a result of our meeting, I would like to express with satisfaction that Albanian authorities have agreed with Turkey on this issue," he added. Cicek also announced that Turkey asked to host a permanent centre for the Inter-parliamentary Assembly of the Balkans, which he noted has neither a centre nor a lasting structure. He stated that he wrote a letter to his counterparts in the Balkan countries and requested that the secretariat of the Inter-parliamentary Assembly between Southeastern European states be based in Istanbul. He added that the Assembly's first five year budget would be supplied by Turkey. The third important issue discussed in the meetings was the Cyprus issue. Cicek requested that countries evaluate the issue in a fair way and support Turkey's position. "The Greek Cypriot administration's (editor's note: the Cyprus Government) uncompromising attitude of escaping from negotiations has brought us to this point", he alleged. [04] Gul believes that the most convenient road of Cyprus' natural gas to reach Europe is through TurkeyTurkish Cypriot daily Diyalog (27.11.14) reports that Turkey's 11th President Abdullah Gul delivered a speech at a panel at London's Chatham House think tank. Asked to comment on whether the developments in Russia has an impact on the energy security of Turkey, Gul said that Turkey has to obtain energy security from a region and countries like Caucasus, Iraq, Iran. He added, however, that he believes the Eastern Mediterranean will be an important source for both Turkey and Europe to obtain on a large scale energy security. He also said that if the Cyprus problem is solved in a peaceful way, then the most convenient road of the natural gas reserves found off the coast of Cyprus to reach Europe is to be combined with Israel's gas and to pass through Turkey. He concluded by saying that if there is constructive approach and act in a win-win awareness then he believes that this can be materialized.[05] Akinci: "Halloumi's possession is not possible to be left to the Greek Cypriots only"Under the above title, Turkish Cypriot daily Halkin Sesi newspaper (27.11.14) reports on statements by Mustafa Akinci who in a visit he held yesterday to the "Turkish Cypriot's businessmen council", referred to the halloumi issue and said that it is unacceptable to leave the possession of halloumi only to the Greek Cypriots.Akinci said that the Turkish Cypriots should not be victimized on the issue of halloumi and called the EU to contribute towards this issue in order for a formula to be found. Referring to the forthcoming "presidential elections" to take place in the occupied area of Cyprus next April, Akinci said that the Turkish Cypriots would elect not only their "negotiator" but the "leader" as well and thus stressed the need for the "people" to elect someone who will defend their "rights". Akinci added that in case that he would be elected, he will exert all efforts for the solution of the Cyprus problem. (AK) [06] A lack of goat and sheep milk in the occupied area of the Republic of CyprusTurkish Cypriot daily Kibris Postasi (27.11.14) reports that goats and lambs have been decreased in the occupied area of the Republic of Cyprus due to the fact that 2,500 goats were sold to Libya. For this reason, there is lack of goat and sheep milk and the Turkish Cypriots will not be able to produce halloumi according to the standard of using goat and sheep milk with a ratio of more than 50%.Ali Cirali, chairman of the "chamber of industry", speaking to the paper, said that in order to be able for the production of halloumi ? hellim, the use of 20% of goat and sheep milk should be gradually increase to 50% in a ten-year transitional period. He added that they should develop the breeding of goats and sheep and they should give importance to the ration of goat and sheep milk in the production of halloumi ? hellim. [07] Caglar and Ertugruloglu to attend PACE's meetings in Paris, Israel and PalestineTurkish Cypriot daily Yeni Duzen newspaper (27.11.14) reports that the so-called deputy with the Republican Turkish Party-United Forces (CTP-BG) in occupied Morfou, Mehmet Caglar and the so-called deputy with the National Unity Party (UBP) in occupied Lefkosia Tahsin Ertugruloglu, together with delegations of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will carry out inspections and observations in Israel and Palestine.According to a decision received by the so-called assembly, Caglar and Ertugruloglu were assigned to carry out inspections and observations in Gaza and the West Bank within the framework of the meeting of the Committee of Political Affairs and Democracy of PACE. The visit will take place between November 27- December 1st. According to a statement issued by the so-called assembly, Ertugruloglu will return to the occupied area of Cyprus after concluding his visit to Palestine and Israel, while, Caglar will proceed to Paris on December 1-6, in order to attend the meetings of the Committee on Equality and Non-Discrimination, the Committee of Culture, Science, Education and Media and the Social Affairs, Health and Sustainable Development. The delegation that will carry out contacts in Paris will be accompanied by the "director for press, foreign relations and protocol" of the so-called assembly Resa Savas Pasaoglulari and it is expected to return to the occupied area of Cyprus on December 6. (AK) [08] Dincyurek: We will administrate the water that will come from TurkeyTurkish Cypriot daily Kibris newspaper (27.11.14) reports that Hakan Dincyurek, self-styled minister of environment and natural resources of the breakaway regime in the occupied area of the Republic of Cyprus, has said that they are approaching to the end of the project of carrying water from Turkey to the occupied area of Cyprus with undersea pipelines. In statements to Kibris, Dincyurek noted that during his recent contacts in Turkey they exchanged views with Ankara for determining a road map and that their meetings will intensify within the forthcoming days.Pointing out that all water resources on the island should be taken into consideration, Dincyurek said: "We are the ones that will administrate both the water which will come from Turkey and the resources in our country. We are preparing a law regarding the administration of the water". He noted that a council will be established regarding the administration of the water and this council will observe all the works. "Every drop is very important for us", he added. Dincyurek said that the head of the council will be the "undersecretary" of his so-called ministry and its members will be coming from the "department for the environment", the "water affairs department", the "geology and mines department", the "local administrations' department" of the so-called "interior ministry, the "ministry of agriculture" and the "municipalities' union". Referring to a statement he has recently made to Turkish media, he noted that his words had been misinterpreted and clarified that what he had said is that the water will come to the occupied area of Cyprus within sixty working days and not in two months. He pointed out that he had not said that the project will be completed in two months, because the works may be interrupted due to weather conditions. Dincyurek said that in Ankara he met with the Deputy Prime Minister, Bulent Arinc, the Energy and Natural Resources Minister, Taner Yildiz, the Environment and City Planning Minister, Idris Gulluce and the Forests' and Water Affairs' Minister, Veysel Eroglu. [09] Kestigul: "Electricity to be transferred to the TRNC from Turkey in the first half of 2015"Under the front-page title: "Electricity in the first half of 2015", Turkish Cypriot daily Halkin Sesi newspaper (27.11.14) reports that the "undersecretary" of the so-called ministry of Energy, Hasan Kestigul, in statements to Turkish newspaper Yeni Safak, said, inter alia, that "north Cyprus", after water, is preparing to transfer electricity from Turkey as well. "Cyprus' electricity problem could be solved only by Turkey", he said.According to Kestigul, the electricity to be transferred from Turkey will come to the occupied area of Cyprus in the first half of 2015. Kestigul pointed out that one of the biggest problems in the island is the energy problem. He said that the island which consumes approximately 1.5 million kw energy annually, will obtain a cheapest energy with the establishment of cable lines. Kestigul added: "With the transferring of electrical energy to the TRNC, the hand of the politicians in Cyprus will be stronger. Frequently, I carry out unofficial contacts with our neighbours in the south. They said that if the electricity would come, they would like to get electricity and be included in the system", said Kestigul, adding that the Greek Cypriots as well want the transferring of electricity from Turkey. Stating that there are certain protocols signed between Turkey and the "TRNC" on the transferring of electricity, Kestigul expressed hopes that these protocols will be set into force the soonest. (AK) [10] New agreement between Turkey and the occupation regime for the restoration of historical monuments of the Vakif FoundationAccording to Turkish Cypriot daily Haberal Kibrisli (27.11.14), Turkey and the occupation regime have signed a protocol agreement on November 14 for the restoration of historical monuments of Vakif Foundation.As the paper writes, the protocol was signed between Turkey's Deputy Prime Minister, responsible for Cyprus Affairs, Bulent Arinc and the so-called prime minister Ozkan Yorgancioglu. The protocol envisages for the restoration of old monuments by experts. The chairman of the "Cyprus Vakif Foundation", Prof. Dr Ibrahim Benter in statements to the paper said that the protocol was prepared by the Vakif Foundation of Turkey and the Vakif Foundation of the "TRNC". Benter also said that there are a lot of monuments in "north Cyprus" which needed to be restored indicating specifically the Selimiye Cami in occupied Lefkosia. Benter added that the restoration works on the Selimiye Cami will start the soonest possible and added that according to the protocol the cost for the restoration will be covered by the Vakif Foundation of Turkey. Explaining that the Vakif Foundation which will undertake the responsibility for restoring the archaeological monuments in the occupied area of Cyprus will open tenders and accept firms which have license from the EU, Benter added that their goal is for the restoration works to start in 1-2 months. He added that the Vakif Foundations works will be inspected by a special committee established by professors of the "Eastern Mediterranean University" ("DAU") and by a research foundation in Turkey. He further said that another place that will be restored in the future is the Lala Mustafa Pasa Mosque in occupied Famagusta. (AK) [11] Turkish Cypriot scientist was chosen to the Executive board of AMFORHTAccording to Turkish Cypriot daily Bakis (27.11.14), a Turkish Cypriot scientist has been chosen to the Executive board of the World Association for Hospitality and Tourism Education and Training (AMFORHT) which is associated with the World Tourism, education and policies.The director of the illegal Girne American university ("GAU") Applied Social Studies Academy and International Tourism and Head of Education College Asst. Prof. Dr Ismet Esenyel has been chosen as member of board to the responsible zones for the Mediterranean and the Middle East of AMFORHT.
