    [01] Burcu alleged that the criteria regarding the religious ceremonies are right

    Turkish Cypriot daily Diyalog newspaper (06.06.16) under the title: "The criteria are the same", reports that the so-called presidential spokesman Baris Burcu, in a written statement, shed light on the matter related with the quarrel occurred after the announcing of the decision of the "foreign ministry" to put four criteria for the religious services in occupied churches and described the "government's decision" as right.

    Burcu also pointed out to the need for the sides to avoid behaviors that may poison the ongoing negotiation process and stressed the importance of speeding up the process. He added that what is important is the implementation of the criteria being determined.

    "The current government will implement those criteria in the best way and I wish that this implementation will not cause complaints", Burcu argued.

    [02] BKP and YKP reacted over the restrictions on the religious ceremonies in churches in the occupied area of Cyprus

    Turkish Cypriot daily Kibris newspaper (05.06.16) reports that the leader of the United Cyprus Party (BKP) Izzet Izcan condemned in a written statement the decision of the so-called government of the National Unity Party-Democratic Party (UBP-DP) to put criteria on the religious ceremonies organized by the Greek Cypriots in the occupied area of Cyprus and described the decision as a "bad-intentioned" gesture. "It is not difficult to understand the intentions of this decision. Our wish is to come to common sense and withdraw this decision the soonest possible", Izcan said.

    He also supported that the chauvinist and racist circles in the "country" try to create crisis in order to harm the bi-communal relations in the island.

    Izcan reiterated also that the continuation of the non-solution in the island will bring instability in the Middle East and also will harm Turkey's EU bid.

    Also, issuing a written statement on the same issue, the New Cyprus Party (YKP) called the activists, NGO's and all the supporters of the solution not to turn a blind eye on the restriction related with the religious ceremonies and to continue their decisive struggles in order to support the freedoms and human rights.

    [03] Durust in Pakistan; He called the OIC's member states to "lift" the so-called embargoes

    Turkish Cypriot daily Diyalog newspaper (06.06.16) reports that the so-called minister of public works and communications Kemal Durust attended the Organization for Islamic Cooperation's standing committee on Scientific and Technologies Cooperation meeting, which took place in Pakistan.

    Addressing the meeting, Durust called the OIC's member states to undertake concrete steps for the "lifting" of the so-called isolation of the Turkish Cypriots.

    Referring to the Cyprus problem, he expressed hopes for reaching to a bi-zonal, bi-communal federal solution based on the political equality of the two sides in Cyprus.

    Stressing the need for the Muslim countries to establish close ties with the Turkish Cypriots, he called them to lift the "inhuman embargoes" with the aim to provide political and concrete support to them.

    Referring to the important contribution of the occupation regime's universities for the promotion of the "TRNC", Durust alleged that the "universities" produce projects on education and technology based on global standards.

    [04] Tatar: Bring at the negotiation table the proposal regarding the occupied Greek Cypriot properties

    Turkish Cypriot daily Bakis newspaper (06.06.16) reports that Ersin Tatar "deputy" with the National Unity Party (UBP) called on the Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci to bring at the negotiation table the proposal reportedly submitted by the Republic of Cyprus to the Council of Europe regarding the occupied Greek Cypriot properties.

    Tatar stated that the demand of the Greek Cypriot for giving an end to the selling of Greek Cypriot properties, the construction on Greek Cypriot soil as well as the advertising of this kind of activities abroad, must be brought up immediately at the negotiations.

    Tatar alleged that the spirit of this demand is against the on-going negotiations and stated that this issue must be discussed by the two leaders.

    [05] Tuncali to be replaced by Basaran at the self-styled representative office in London

    Turkish Cypriot daily Kibris newspaper (04.06.16) reports that Oya Tuncali, the self-styled representative of the breakaway regime in London, gave a farewell reception on the occasion of completing her duties in London and her return to the occupied area of Cyprus.

    Tuncali, who will continue working for the "ministry of foreign affairs", will be replaced by Zehra Basaran in August.

    [06] Ramadan begins today

    Turkish Cypriot daily Kibris Postasi newspaper (06.06.16) reports that the month of Ramadan starts today. Moslem believers will fast for 30 days. The paper writes that Moslems believe that the Koran was revealed during this month.

    [07] Turkish Cypriot politicians believe that Turkey will create huge domestic projects under newly appointed Prime Minister

    Turkish daily Milliyet newspaper (04.06.16) reported that the statement by Turkey's Prime Minister Binali Yildirim during his illegal visit to the occupied area of the Republic of Cyprus "Whatever there is in Turkey, it will also be in the TRNC", created a great excitement.

    Speaking to the paper, self-styled minister of economic and energy Sunat Atun said that the name, who signed all these huge projects in Turkey, was the Prime Minister, claiming that this is very exciting for them, because "North Cyprus will be transformed this period".

    Self-styled minister of agriculture and natural resources Nazim Cavusoglu, commenting on the same statement, argued that their problems will be solved fast.

    [08] Afrika: Turkey gets hold on every "institution" in the breakaway regime

    Under the title "Hey people, we have been sold", Turkish Cypriot daily Afrika newspaper (04.06.16) criticized the statements of the "deputy prime minister and minister of finance" Serdar Denktas who stated that he is comfortable with the "2016-2018 Structural Transformation Program" signed between Turkey and the breakaway regime.

    Denktas stated further that the program foresees structural changes at certain "institutions" that will benefit "the country and the people". Referring also to the economic protocol, Denktas said that they focused mainly on five factors: "The state planning organization, judiciary, telecommunications, electricity and ports".

    Commenting on Denktas statements, Afrika notes that from one hand negotiations for the solution of the Cyprus problem are taking place, and on the other hand, Turkey gets hold on every "institution" in the breakaway regime. According to the paper, the protocol will not only affect the breakaway regime economically but will affect many other aspects of life as well.

    [09] Garbage in the yards of historical churches in the occupied old city of Famagusta

    Turkish Cypriot daily Kibris newspaper (05.06.16), marking the World Environment Day, on its front page under the title "They failed the Environment class", focuses on the cleanliness of the occupied area of the Republic of Cyprus. The paper published photos of the Greek St George church and St Symeon church within the wall of the occupied old city of Famagusta, which their yards are full with garbage. The paper reports that there was a big reaction from tourists visiting the historical churches.

    [10] Russian Army Choir performed in the inauguration of a hotel in the occupied area of Cyprus

    According to Turkish Cypriot daily Detay newspaper (06.06.16), the Russian Army Choir went to the occupied area of the Republic of Cyprus to give a concert with 50 army officers on invitation of Murat Ersoy, Chairman of the Turkish Tourism Investors Association (TYD) for the inauguration of Elexus hotel in the occupied area of Cyprus.

    Russian Federation National Security Academy Foreign Economic Relations Vice President Talat Enver Cetin (of Turkish origin) argued that Russia supports all the initiatives of improving the relations between Russia and Turkey. Cetin noted that the Russian government did not prevent the Russian Army Choir to go the "TRNC" to perform, adding that this shows Russia is not the side which has broken its relations with Turkey.

    [11] Erdogan denies the accusations of the Armenian genocide

    Turkish Cypriot daily Kibris newspaper (06.06.16) reports that Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, delivering a speech in a ceremony at the Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TIM) to award leading exporters, said: "Our stance on the Armenian issue has been clear from the beginning. We don't accept the genocide accusations".

    During his speech, Erdogan claimed that the witnesses of the genocide reportedly carried out by the Greek Cypriots in Cyprus are still irritated, adding that it is also possible to listen today the stories for those who subjected to violence by Armenians in Karabakh.

    [12] Erdogan: Women who refuse maternity are deficient

    Turkish daily Hurriyet Daily News newspaper (online, 05.06.16) reported that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, at the opening ceremony of the Women and Democracy Association (KADEM) in Istanbul on June 5, argued that a woman who abstains from maternity out of a desire to work is deficient (she is a half person), no matter how successful she is.

    Erdogan also added that procreating and being in all fields of life do not obstruct maternity, noting that the government had made significant regulations to encourage maternity during his Prime Ministry tenure. "I certainly do not accept the business world becoming an alternative for maternity," the President said.

    [13] HDP co-chair slams judiciary in Istanbul rally

    According to Turkish daily Hurriyet Daily News (online, 05.06.16), the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) organized a rally in Istanbul centred on the theme of "Democratic Resistance against the Coup" following moves to strip party Deputies of their immunity from prosecution.

    "We do not fear being tried, but we do not believe there is an independent judiciary to try us," HDP co-chair Selahattin Demirtas said regarding the lifting of immunities during the rally, which was conducted under heavy security measures.

    "There were political instructions to lift our immunities; we are sent to the court for political vengeance; a top court judge was participating in a tea collecting ceremony with the President. Can they conduct a just trial? We reject it for this reason," he said.

    There are certain prosecutors who are too eager to try them, Demirtas said. "They are waiting in aspiration to shine for the palace. When we face them, we will see who is trying whom."

    President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who was not able to stop the HDP in the elections even with a thousand tricks, was to trying to eliminate it with the support of the other two groups in parliament and the judiciary, Demirtas said. "I want to address them now. If justice will not raise its voice today, those members of the judiciary who believe in rule of law, if they do not raise their voices today, please do not raise a voice about anything again," Demirtas added.
