  • [01] Commission authorises the acquisition by the Sidmar group of Flachform Stahl AG & Co KG

The European Commission authorises the acquisition by the Sidmar group of Flachform Stahl AG & Co KG. and of some connected business of Klöcker Stahl- und Metallhandel GmbH. Considering the market share the acquisition will give to Sidmar and the competitors on the market, the Commission regards the proposed acquisition as fulfilling the conditions set out in the ECSC (European Coal and Steel Community) Treaty.

[02] The future of the European aerospace industry

On 5th November, the European Commission and the European Parliament, in conjunction with the European Association of Aerospace Industries (AECMA), will organise a symposium on the future of the European aerospace industry. Jacques Santer, President of the European Commission, will deliver a key note speech. Martin Bangemann, European Commissioner responsible for industry, Members of the European Parliament, and several eminent representatives of the European aerospace sector will also address the conference. The aim of the symposium is to discuss ways to ensure the future prosperity of the aerospace sector and ways in which the European Union can assist in this process.

[03] Commission to help fund poorest countries' attendance at WTO Ministerial

The European Commission has decided to make ECU 50,000 available to enable the participation of Ministers from least developed countries at the first Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organisation (WTO). This will be held in Singapore from 9-13 December 1996. The Commission hopes other countries can now also come forward with financial support to make the attendance of least developed countries at the Ministerial possible.

( !!! embargo 15h30 !!! ).
