[01] Message of European Commission President Mr Barroso to H.E the
President of the Republic of Cyprus Mr Papadopoulos
Dear President,
It was with great sadness that I learned about yesterday’s airplane
disaster which has deeply struck your people and country, causing many
casualties and so much suffering.
On behalf of the European Commission and on my own behalf, allow me to
offer you and the people of the Republic of Cyprus our sincere condolences,
and the expression of our deepest sympathy and solidarity with the families
of the victims.
With sincere respects,
José Manuel Barroso
[02] Statement by Jacques Barrot, European Commissioner for transport, on
the crash of a Cypriot airliner in Greece
It is with great sadness that I have learned of today's airliner crash near
Athens, which has cost the lives of all on board. My sympathies go out to
the families and friends of the victims and all those affected by this
tragic event. This latest incident shows that in spite of all that has
already been done to improve the safety of Europe's skies, we must
intensify our joint efforts to ensure the very highest safety standards for
all Europe's air passengers and crew.
[03] Concentrations: La Commission autorise l’acquisition d’Edison par
