    Equities were holding steady in cautious, edgy trade as the session began at the Athens Stock Exchange on Friday, with the general share price index up just 0.03 percent at 11:15 am at 2,207.02 points and turnover at 5.0 million euros, or 1.7 billion drachmas.

    The majority of individual sector indices were moving up, with the biggest gains in retail trade, up 1.59 percent; publishing, up 1.01 percent; and IT products and solutions, up 0.42 percent. The biggest losses were in banks, down 0.30 percent; textiles, down 0.15 percent; and insurance, down 0.08 per cent.

    The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was down 0.20 percent, while the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was up 0.68 percent, and the FTSE/ASE SmallCap 80 index was up 0.09 percent.

    Of the stocks moved, 121 were up, 41 were down and 57 were unchanged.

    Unsettled weather is forecast in all parts of the country, with cloud, rain and storms, chiefly on the mainland. Limited visibility due to mist is expected early in the morning. Winds variable, light. In the north, temperatures will range from 7C to 18C; on the rest of the mainland from 10C to 21C; and in the islands from 13C to 20C. Unsettled in Athens, with temperatures between 12C and 20C. Same in Thessaloniki, with temperatures from 9C to 18C.
