  • [01] No infringements and violations in the Aegean by Turkish warplanes in two days

Armed Forces General Staff sources said on Friday that there were no illegal activities by the Turkish Air Force over the Aegean on Thursday and Friday, showing conduct which abides by the terms of good neighbourliness.

However, the stance of the Turkish Air Force does not impress the Greek Air Force which is observing developments and maintaining a high level of alert for the confrontation of any illegal activity in the Aegean, given the until now record of conduct by the neighbouring country.

According to the Armed Forces General Staff sources, on Wednesday 24 Turkish warplanes made eight infringements of the air traffic regulations of the Athens Flight Information Region (FIR) which developed in four violations of the national airspace in the northern and central Aegean. All the Turkish aircraft were recognised and intercepted by corresponding Greek fighter planes.
