[01] New employment minister sworn in
Vassilis Magginas was sworn-in on Monday as the government's new
employment minister and social protection minister, in the presence of
President of the Republic Karolos Papoulias and Prime Minister Costas
Karamanlis.
Magginas takes over from embattled Savvas Tsitouridis, whose
resignation was tendered and accepted by Karamanlis on Saturday.
Vagginas is a veteran politician with ruling New Democracy party,
having served as its spokesman in the 1990s and most recently, as ND's
Parliamentary group spokesman. Larissa-area MP Christos Zois was tapped
as the new Parliamentary spokesman for the ruling party.
Magginas was elected from Aetoloakarnania prefecture in western
Greece.
