  • [01] NATO DMs meet in London

The informal session of the NATO Alliance's defence ministers came to an end in London on Friday, with the participation of Defence Minister Evangelos Meimarakis. The session focused on issues concerning the Alliance's development.

Meimarakis said in his address regarding NATO's development and its new Administration Structure that the advantages of the equal distribution of the administration structure's posts are clearly greater and much more important than economising through cutbacks in human potential.

    [02] Spell of bad weather

A spell of bad weather began in most parts of the country on Saturday morning with heavy rain, storms and gale force winds in the region of 8-9 beaufort blowing in areas around the country.

Rain and storms are expected initially in the Ionian Sea, Western Sterea and the Western Peloponnese and will gradually spread to Eastern Sterea, Evia, Thessaly, the Cyclades island complex and Crete. The islands of the Eastern Aegean and of the Dodecannese will also be affected as of the early hours on Sunday.

As regards the Attica prefecture in particular, these phenomena will be very intense at times as of Saturday afternoon and until the early hours on Sunday. Temperatures will also be low for this time of the year and will range between 16C and 24C in the wider Athens area.

Weather conditions are expected to improve gradually in Western Greece on Saturday night and spread to the rest of the country by Sunday night.

People are advised to take the unfavourable weather phenomena into serious consideration, since they may be creating problems in many cases.
