An exhibition on the life of the historic Greek politician Ioannis
Kapodistrias, the first head of the modern Greek state, was
inaugurated in the coastal city of Nafplion in the Peloponnese over
the weekend by Tourism Minister Aris Spiliotopoulos.
The exhibition was organised by the branch of the National Gallery
based in Nafplion, in collaboration with the local municipality and
the Ioannis Kapodistrias institute. The exhibition is entitled
"Ioannis Kapodistrias: first martyr of Greece" and was opened on
Saturday night.

[02] Gallery exhibition in Metsovo
President of the Republic Karolos Papoulias inaugurated the
exhibition "Portrait of a Museum" in the Averoff Gallery in the
mountain village of Metsovo in Ioannina, which opened its doors to
the public over the weekend.
The inauguration ceremony on Saturday was part of a series of events
held to mark the 20th anniversary since the gallery was opened and
the centenary since the birth of its founder Evangelos Averoff.
