    Stocks ended sharply higher in the Athens Stock Exchange on Tuesday amid improved trading conditions in the market. The composite index jumped 4.01 pct to end at 2,277.60 points, with turnover rising to 193.65 million euros.

    THe FTSE 20 index soared 4.92 pct, the FTSE 40 index ended 2.45 pct higher and the FTSE 80 index ended 2.44 pct higher.

    The Insurance index was the only one to suffer losses (1.82 pct), while Banks (6.09 pct) and Health (6.09 pct) scored the biggest percentage gains of the day.

    Elfico (19.30 pct), Alma-Atermon (14.29 pct), Desmos (11.11 pct) and Dias Fish Farm (9.27 pct) were top gainers, while Klonatex (11.11 pct), Elmec Sport (9.09 pct), Plias (9.09 pct) and Olympic Catering (8.44 pct) were top losers. Broadly, advancers led decliners by 148 to 45 with another 50 issues unchanged.
