  • [01] Stocks end significantly lower

    Stocks ended significantly lower in very thin trading conditions in the Athens Stock Exchange on Thursday. The composite index of the market fell 1.87 pct to end at 1,716.80 points, with turnover shrinking to a low 85.819 million euros.

    The FTSE 20 index dropped 2.31 pct, the FTSE 40 index rose 0.10 pct and the FTSE 80 index eased 0.87 pct. The Health (2.01 pct) and Personal Products (1.33 pct) were top gainers, while Oil (3.14 pct) and Banks (2.92 pct) suffered the heaviest percentage losses of the day.

    Broadly, decliners led advancers by 110 to 61 with another 54 issues unchanged. Hellenic Sugar (19.44 pct), Compucon (12.5 pct) and Ekter (9.84 pct) were top gainers, while Alsinco (19.10 pct), Tegopoulos (19.05 pct) and Varvaressos (16.67 pct) were top losers.
