  • [01] Amendments on bad business loans, debt settlements passed

ÁÍÁ/ÌPÁ---The Greek parliament on Friday voted in favour of the amendments on business bad loans and the exclusion of arrears not considered overdue from the 100-installment settlement.

More specifically, 165 deputies voted in favour of the amendment on bad business loans, 83 voted against, and 13 deputies voted 'present'. The amendment on the exclusion of arrears not considered overdue from the 100-installement debt settlement was voted by 147 deputies, while 112 deputies voted against, and two voted 'present'.

New Democracy and PASOK voted in favour of the amendments - although PASOK deputies Apostolos Kaklamanis and Michalis Kassis voted 'present' in the roll-call vote on the regulation regarding debt settlement exceptions. Main opposition SYRIZA, Independent Greeks and communist party KKE voted against.

Democratic Left (DIMAR) voted in favour of the amendment on bad business loans despite the disagreements expressed during its discussion, but it voted against the exclusion of arrears not considered overdue from the debt settlement. However, deputy Giorgos Kyritsis voted 'present' in the first amendment.

Golden Dawn voted 'present' in the amendment on bad loans, and voted against the amendment on overdue debt.
