ANA-MPA -- President of the Hellenic Republic Karolos Papoulias on Friday received visiting Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, in Greece to attend the 3rd Greece-Turkey High-Level Cooperation Council, at the presidential mansion.

"I hail the third meeting of the Greece-Turkey High-Level Council and these meetings that contribute to enhancing relations between the two countries," Papoulias said.

The Greek president also stressed that such meetings "reinforce the principles of good neighbourhood and the rules of international law, which must govern our relations."

"We are neighbours and we will remain neighbours, therefore we must be good neighbours," he added.

Davutoglu replied that Papoulias was absolutely right and that, while everything might change, "geographic location cannot change".

"And fortunately we are neighbours; since there a few examples of neighbours with common cultural traits and good relations. I had invited you to Turkey as foreign minister and now, as prime minister, I invite you to visit once again," he said.

The meeting was attended by government Vice-President and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos and Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.
