  • [01] Gov't, institutions reach deal on new privatisation fund, power grid operator

A marathon-long meeting between the government's economic team and representatives of Greece's institutional ended in the early morning hours of Friday with an agreement over a new privatisation fund and a compromise over the currently state-owned power grid transmission operator (ADMIE).

Both sides were to hold more talks on non-performing loans (NPLs), as part of the prior actions necessary before a sub-tranche of 1 billion euros is disbursed to Greece.

According to sources, an agreement is pending on the NPLs, which would open the way towards the disbursement of the sub-tranche. Sources said that Friday talks will focus on commercial loans, whereas mortgage loans would be dealt with next year, within the framework of the first review.

In the agreement reached between the government with the institutions, the new privatisation fund will include three representatives of the government and two from the institutions.
