Greek Coast Guard has rescued at least 576 refugees and migrants over the last 24 hours in 10 different incidents in the Aegean.

These incidents took place at the sea region of Lesvos, Samos and Megisti.

[02] The refugee issue is a matter of values, says Turkish PM Davutoglu

BRUSSELS (ANA-MPA/M.Aroni) – "For Turkey, the refugee issue is not a matter of negotiation, but an issue of values, both human and European values," Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Friday said upon his arrival at a meeting with European Council President Donald Tusk, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.

Davutoglu underlined that Turkey has welcomed 2.7 million refugees without any significant help from anyone. "I want to reiterate that Turkey will continue this policy in humanitarian perspectives," said the Turkish prime minister and added: "Turkey also aims at helping Syrian refugees and building a bright future for our continent."

Davutoglu expressed the hope that Friday's consultations with the European leaders will achieve the goal of helping all refugees, but also strengthening the relations between Turkey and the EU, which, as he said, is "good news for our continent."
