  • [01] Cooperation prospects between Greece and Israel dominate Tsipras-Peres meeting

    The relations and the cooperation prospects between Greece and Israel, particularly in the fields of science innovation and startups, dominated an informal meeting of the Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras with former President of Israel Shimon Peres earlier on Monday at the Maximos Mansion.

    Science and technology are matters which have an active role in the Peres Center for Peace.

    [02] ND leader: High taxation leads people to black economy

    Growth will not be achieved because the government's choices lead the country to stagnation and recession, main opposition New Democracy (ND)leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis said in an interview to SKAI radio late Sunday.

    Mitsotakis claimed that taxation leads the people to black economy, does not help attract investments, businesses shut down and we have disinvestment. All these will be apparent in September and the government will come before a new impasse.

    Referring to the public sector, ND leader said that the problem lies within the irrational allocation of the staff adding that many organisations are overstaffed while there are shortages in others.

    Finally, on the possibility of early elections, Mitsotakis said "Early elections will cost the country less than leaving this government at the country's helm."

    [03] PM Tsipras to address Posidonia Exhibition 2016

    Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras will address the opening of "Posidonia Exhibition 2016" on Monday.

    His speech has been scheduled for 18.00, at the Athens Metropolitan Expo.

    [04] Finance ministry to unveil three bills to combat tax evasion, tobacco smuggling and corruption

    Greek Finance ministry plans to submit to Parliament three draft laws aimed at combating tax evasion, smuggling and corruption, Alternate Finance Minister Tryfon Alexiadis told ANA-MPA TV on Monday.

    Alexiadis said that the Finance ministry plans to submit the three bills soon and noted that these three bills will cover tobacco smuggling, e-transactions and the reveal of undeclared incomes.

    Referring to the bill on e-transactions, Alexiadis said it will include incentives for the use of e-payment cards and new obligatory limits for such transactions.

    [05] FM Kotzias meets his Albanian counterpart Bushati in Tirana

    Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias is currently meeting with his Albanian counterpart Ditmir Bushati in Tirana.

    200 people had gathered outside the Albanian Foreign Minstry protesting against the so-called Cham minority issue.

    According to the Independent Balkan News Agency, the Albanian Minister got out of his office and asked the protestors, headed by the president of PDIU party and parliament's vice president Shpetim Idrizi to leave, but his request was not accepted.

    He will also meet prime minister Edi Rama on Tuesday morning.
