  • [01] EWG to approve disbursement of Greece's sub-tranche, Eurozone source tells ANA

BRUSSELS (ANA/C. Vasikali) – The EuroWorking Group (EWG) will meet on Monday to approve the disbursement of the 2.8-billion-euro loan sub-tranche to Greece, a senior Eurozone official told the Athens-Macedonian News Agency on Friday.

Earlier this week, the same source had said that the EWG would only be called only if the institutions certify that all the prior actions required by the country's lenders have been implemented.

This means that the official approval for the disbursement at Monday's Eurogroup is very possible.

[02] Air traffic controllers to hold 24-hour rolling strikes as of Sunday

Planes will remain grounded in Greek airports as of Sunday due to the rolling 24-hour strikes called by air traffic controllers, who are protesting against the new legislation approved by parliament that foresees the restructuring of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

The strikes have been scheduled for Sunday (Oct. 9), Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 00:01 to 23:59. During those days, there will no flights to and from Greek airports.

After its meeting with Infrastructure Minister Christos Spirtzis and the head of the CAA Konstantinos Lyntzerakos, the union said it insists on taking labour action.
