  • [01] PM Tsipras speaks on the phone with Russian President Putin

    Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed on the phone earlier on Thursday with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras the condition in Syria and the developments in the Cyprus issue, according to a Kremlin announcement.

    The two top officials "discussed a series of international issues, among them, the condition in Syria and the Cyprus issue"

    Alexis Tsipras sent his condolences to President Putin on the assassination of Russian ambassador Andrey Karlov in Ankara and the airplane tragedy in the Black Sea, said Kremlin's announcement.

    [02] Snowfall in Athens; no problems in traffic

    Snow in downtown Athens even in the southern coastal suburbs of Attica, gusty winds and very low temperatures prevailed on Thursday.

    Snow started falling early Thursday in Attica region without however provoking problems in the traffic.

    Trains are moving normally while minor problems have been reported in urban bus services.

    Coast Guard forbids ships to sail from the ports of Piraeus, Rafina and Lavrio due to strong northerly winds reaching 8-9 on the Beaufort scale.

    Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos is open and no flight has been cancelled yet.

    [03] No refugees arrivals in the last 24h on the Greek islands

    No refugee or migrant arrived on the northern Aegean islands in the last 24 hours.

    Police said that on Thursday 11,102 refugees that have sought asylum and their request have been not examined yet remained trapped on the islands
