  • [01] Last prior actions for conclusion of programme review to be voted in parliament plenum

The last prior actions for the conclusion of the second programme review of the Greek programme will be tabled as amendments and voted on in Parliament on Friday.

The debate of the draft law on fishing will begin before the plenum at 10:00 am, with the relevant amendments attached, while the discussion is scheduled to end at 17:00 and any roll-call voting, if requested, is expected to end at 18:00.

Opposition parties had earlier voiced strong objections to the prospect of the remaining prior actions being tabled as amendments, when informed of the possibility by Parliament President Nikos Voutsis.

[02] Greece finalises prior actions ahead of Eurogroup

With the submission of the last prior actions to the parliament, the government shows that it meets its commitments to the institutions, according to government sources.

Therefore, apart from the compliance reports and the green light for the disbursement of the loan tranche, the discussion at the Eurogroup could focus on the medium-term measures on the debt that will be implemented after the end of the programme.

[03] Tough austerity policy questioned, gov't spokesman Tzanakopoulos comments on British elections

The outcome of the British elections justifies Jeremy Corbyn, who has managed to turn the Labour Party into a really great political force in Britain after many years, and this was done with a left-hand turnaround, government spokesman Dimitris Tzanakopoulos said on Friday in an interview with the radio station "Sto Kokkino 105.5", commenting on the first results of the British elections.

It was this political turn that bore in mind the needs of society, he noted adding that Theresa May has suffered a very big defeat.

Moreover, he estimated that there is a global tendency to doubt the existing tough austerity policy.

He noted that the austerity policy is being questioned in the working classes and the big question now is who will respond to this adding that the forces of the Left are the ones that must respond.

[04] Tsipras does not have the honesty to lead the country to elections, ND leader Mitsotakis says

Main opposition New Democracy (ND) leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis sternly attacked Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and the government addressing on Friday a meeting of the shadow cabinet.

It is a government that can't negotiate, said Mitsotakis adding that "a government that will take what it is given, a government that is a beggar and a spectator in a negotiation where the criteria have nothing to do with our country but with the political circumstances in other countries".

The government attests provocative arrogance and cynicism because the only thing that is interested in is the authority, said Mitsotakis and accused Tsipras that "he does not have the honesty to lead the country to elections".

[05] President Pavlopoulos pays official visit to Germany

The President of the Republic, Prokopios Pavlopoulos, at the invitation of the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, will pay an official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany on 9 and 10 June 2017.

The President of the Republic will inaugurate, along with his German counterpart, the DOCUMENTA 14 Exhibition, in Kassel.

Pavlopoulos and Mrs. Vlasia Pavlopoulou, will be welcomed today at the Presidential Mansion by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank Walter Steinmeier and Mrs. Elke Bundenbender.

Pavlopoulos will have a private meeting with the German President, followed by statements by the two Presidents, and there will also be extended talks between the two delegations.

The President of the Republic and the Greek delegation will visit the wing of ancient Greek art at the Altes Museum, the Archaeological Museum of Berlin. He will meet with His Eminence Metropolitan Augustinos of Germany and Exarch of Central Europe, with representatives of Greek organizations and with Greek correspondents and journalists.
