  • [01] President Pavlopoulos to discuss Cyprus issue with PM Tsipras on Tuesday

The Cyprus issue will dominate a meeting between President of the Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos and Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Tuesday.

The President will receive the Prime Minister at 13.00.

Tsipras said on Monday he will attend the Geneva talks on Cyprus only if it becomes apparent that negotiation are moving towards a solution.

"The issue now is, as soon as we have the first indications on the state of play of the negotiations in Geneva, we will have a better picture on whether we will be represented at a prime ministerial level, or if the foreign ministers will take over," Tsipras told government coalition partner and ANEL leader Panos Kammenos, during talks before the cameras.

[03] Heavy snowfall disrupts traffic in greater Athens region; schools closed

Most of Greece will remain in the grip of snow and very low temperatures on Tuesday, when the frost is expected to give way to rain and a weather front coming up from the west.

Certain bus routes are out of service on Tuesday due to the snow and sleet on the road while some roads in the northern parts of the city remain closed.

Meanwhile, schools and kindergartens in the Greek capital will remain closed due to the frost, the municipality announced on Monday night. It also urged Athenians to limit their movements to avoid accidents and being trapped in snow.

"The municipality is ready to protect homeless citizens while crews are throwing salt on the streets to ensure access to hospitals," it added in a press release.
