The two men escorting Papademos at the time of the blast had already been discharged and were in a generally good condition, the hospital added. "The patient Lucas Papademos is haemodynamically stable. His general condition is good. The progress of his wounds is normal. He will continue to be treated in an ICU for the next 24 hours. "His two escorts received the necessary medical care and exited in a generally good condition, with instructions for a further medical evaluation in a week's time," the announcement said. Papademos, his driver and one other man in his security detail were injured in a suspected letter bomb blast that occurred while the three were riding in the former Greek premier's armoured car on Thursday evening in downtown Athens. According to the hospital, he sustained superficial wounds to the chest, abdomen and thighs, as well as burns to the face, and underwent surgery to clean the wounds in his legs. The other two people in the car had lighter injuries for which they were given first aid, while they remained in hospital for one night for precautionary reasons. Papademos, a central banker and ECB vice-president, served as the head of Greece's caretaker government from November 2011 until May 2012.
