The President pointed out that it is a shame for our culture, especially during the 21st century, with such accumulated wealth, with such technological advances, that there are so many children who are victims of poverty and hunger, so many child victims of war and migration. He stressed that there is need for an international and especially European alarm to restore the principles and values of humanity, peace and social justice, and noted that in this area Unicef must and can play a decisive role. On her part, Khan thanked the President of the Republic, the Greek people for their generosity and hospitality to refugees and especially to children. [02] Football match between Barcelona and national Greek team veterans in Mytilene A friendly football game between Barcelona veterans and Greek national team veterans will be held on Thursday 8 June at 18:30 at the municipality Stadium of Mytilene. The event is organised by the municipality of Lesvos, FC Barcelona Foundation (Fundacio FC Barcelona) and the Union of Barcelona players. It is part of a broader programme implemented by Barcelona Foundation on Stavros Niarchos Foundation. "The event aims to honour the citizens of Lesvos for their contribution to the refugees crisis. Moroever it reminds that the refugees crisis is part of an international humanitarian disaster created by the ongoing conflicts, the poverty and the climate change," stated Lesvos mayor Spyros Galinos to Athens Macedonian News Agency. [03] Aegean Airlines says passenger traffic up 8.0 pct Aegean Airlines on Tuesday said its passenger traffic totaled 2.1 million passengers in the April-May period, up 8.0 pct compared with the same period in 2016. The Greek airline said international passenger traffic grew 15 pct in the two-month perid, totaling 1.2 million passengers, with passenger traffic from the Athens airport rising 19 pct. Aegean Airlines said domestic traffic was stable despite the fact that Olympic Air managed less remote air routes and stronger domestic competition. Aegean Arlines said seat occupancy grew 8.0 pct to 79 pct, from 71 pct in the same eriod last year, reflecting an more efficient management of seat capacity, attractive ticket offers and higher demand for air travel to Greece. Dimitris Gerogiannis, Aegean Airlines CEO, commenting on the results said it was a very good start of the summer season.
