According to the report, the Cyrpus Republic is the only state on the island and represents the whole population. At the same time, Mr. Posh warns that if Ankara goes ahead with the annexation of the Cyprus occupied territories, then Tuerkey will not be accepted in the European Union.In the meantime, Turkish-Cypriot representative Rauf Denktash has rejected the invitation of the United Nations Secretary General Koffi Anan for the resumption of the Cyprus proximity talks in New York on September 12. [02] 350 illegal immigrants disembarked in EviaThe bodies of five illegal immigrants among a group of more than 350 Kurds and Afghanis disembarked by immigrant-smugglers were discovered on the coast of Evia early Wednesday, the Greek Coast Guard said.A Coast Guard official told ANA that the immigrants were disembarked off Mantoudi during the night by an unidentified ship, and Coast Guard patrol boats were combing the sea area of Evia to ascertain whether the vessel was still inside Greek territorial waters. According to early reports, the immigrants were disembarked off the coast of Mantoudi and had to swim to shore. The five dead were believed to have drowned. Finally, the 3 immingrant-smugglers, who were responsible for the operation, were arrested and will appear before the Public Prosecutor. [03] Train derailment casuses injury of twoTwo passengers of a train heading from Athens to Kyparisia were lightly injured when it was derailed in Nea Manolada at the prefecture of Ilia yesterday evening. [05] Additional allowances for low-income civil servantsAbout 100,000 civil servants with low salaries are to receive an additional family allowance that will be paid in two phases within 2002. The lowest amount of the allowance will be 60,000 drachmas, while women pensioners will be entitled to the same allowance.[06] Fuel prices riseFuel prices have gone up as of today, with unleaded being sold by seven drachmas more per litre and diesel oil by three drachmas more. According to information fuel prices will be adjusted on a daily basis as of September 20.[07] Reforms in the Health sector to cause reaction says Health ministerThe first 7 regional Health Centres will begin functioning as of September 18, while 10 more are to function by October 15.
