    Rain will fall in all parts of the country except for the west, which will remain dry but cloudy. Winds northerly, moderate to strong, turning very strong in parts of the Aegean. The temperature in Athens will range from 6C to 12C and in Thessaloniki from 4C to 10C.

    [02] Iraq running out of time says the UN

    Heads of the United Nations inspectors Hans Blix and Mohamed El Baradei are arriving in Athens today to brief the Greek EU Presidency on the course of checks carried out for the Iraqi arsenal. Mr Blix has warned that time is getting short for war to be averted.

    Additionally, American Secretary of State Colin Powell, who also pointed out that Iraq was running out of time and that it should comply with the United Nations resolutions, did not rule out the possibility for the International supervisors to continue their checks.

    Meanwhile, demonstrations are taking place in many countries against the possibility of war, while European Union high commissioner on Foreign Affairs Xavier Solana and the German Foreign Minister Yoska Fisher are trying to prevent war. At the same time, the French President Jacques Chirac stresses in the French newspaper &#8220;Le Monde&#8221; that if the Americans intervene unilaterally, then they are in danger of being isolated by the international community. According to the French President, an attack launched against Iraq that would not be based on the Security Council's decision would be illegal.

    Moreover, anti-war demonstrations took place in Turkey in the weekend.

    Finally, American and British jet fighters hit air defence installations in Southern Iraq yesterday.

    [03] Personages blackmailed

    Businessmen and journalists will testify in the coming days on the issue of blackmailing of prominent members of the Greek society.

    Businessman Theodoros Angelopoulos referred to certain people who had been blackmailed and others who had tried to blackmail his family.

    According to the same information, Mr Angelopoulos presented the Public Prosecutor with recorded dialogues carrying threats against his life and members of the his family.

    Finally, ATHENS 2004 President Gianna Angelopoulos &#8211; Daskalaki and ship owner Marriana Latsi will testify this week.

    [04] Demonstrations against Denktash continue

    According to the Cypriot Foreign Minister Ioannis Kassoulides, the Turkish Cypriot representative Rauf Dentash may step down from office before February 28 due to the Turkish Cypriots' demonstrations and certain statements of Turkish officials, who are reacting to Mr Denktash's policy.

    Meanwhile, today's meeting between the President of the Cyprus Republic Glafkos Clerides and Mr Denktash will boost negotiations between the two sides.

    On a relative development, United Nations special envoy Alvaro De Soto has warned t hat the United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan will end his efforts to for the solution of the Cyprus issue if no solution is reached by February 28. Referring to Turkey's stance, Mr Soto stated that Ankara wishes that the efforts for the solution of the Cyprus issue be carried out within the framework of Mr Annan's plan.

    [05] The government promoting part time employment

    According to Labour Minister Dimitris Reppas' statements, the government is promoting part time employment.

    At the same time, the European Union Labour Ministers will meet in Naphplion on Thursday and Friday.

    Finally, syndicates and bodies are organizing demonstrations, demanding measures to be taken against unemployment and social exclusion. From their side, the Ministers of Labour and Press are asking for dialogue and self-control.
