PASOK President, George Papandreou, who is on a visit to Thessaloniki within the frame of 73rd ITF, launched a new attack against the government, this time on its plans about Kapodistria 2, which he described as "administrative crime difficult to reverse if carried out", in his speech during an event organized by PASOK Public Projects Sector today. The main opposition leader said that the governments plan promotes mere merging which is giving rise to strong disputes among elected local administration leaders and warned that PASOK will resist to ND efforts. Mr. Papandreou also maintained that there was huge delay in materialization of public projects in the region due to NDs selection to reduce public investments and delays in both the 3rd Community Support Framework and ESPA. Mr. Papandreou expressed the view that this delay reflects a tough battle of vested interests which will lead to loss of funds.

Mr. Papandreou said that PASOK has set four strategic targets which are: big reforms in the state with decentralization of power and funds, increase of funds for public investment program, utilization of Egnatia road network and establishment of a new developmental model focused on people.

It seems that Italian national, Deniz Pipitone, born 10/.26/2000, who went missing on September 1, 2004 from the city of Trapan, Sicily, Italy, has been found on the island of Kos.

Specifically, a 6-9 year old girl, accompanied by a woman and a boy, approached an Italian tourist spending holidays on the island of Kos to sell her a bracelet. The girl spoke Italian. When she returned to Italy seeing posters and pictures of Deniz, she realized that the girl looked like the girl who had disappeared in Sicily. The woman immediately informed Italian authorities which in turn informed Interpol and Hellas Police. Kos police located a 29 year-old Albanian accompanying the girl who spoke Italian while the Albanian, who appeared as her mother did not speak Italian. The Albanian woman was arrested while blood was taken from the girl for a DNA test to prove whether she is Deniz or not.

The 29 year-old Albanian had been arrested on July, 28 and stood trial at First Instance Court for presenting as original three residence permits which had been stolen from Thiba municipality. The Court had issued deportation verdict within 30 days but she had remained in Greece.
