Prime-minister, Kostas Karamanlis met at the Maximos Mansion this morning with presidents and general secretaries of Judges and Prosecutors' Unions, State Council and Legal Council. Justice Minister Sotiris Hatzigakis underlined that this meeting indicated the government's respect to independent Greek justice which has reached smooth waters after going through a critical stage.

Mr. Hatzidakis also stressed that blows against justice do not help anyone and the least help democracy, adding that all cases that sparked attacks will be cleared. On his part, the president of the Judges and Prosecutors' Union, Haralambos Athanasiou said that the Prime-minister showed particular interest in the problems in the field of justice and for its smooth operation and stressed that he is well aware of all issues preoccupying judges and prosecutors. Commenting on low confidence indicated in gallup polls, he described it as a temporary phenomenon and reminded that percentage points indicated lower confidence to justice two years ago.
