  • [01] G. Papandreou: âI Owe to Nobody, Have Nothing to Fearâ

PASOK president G. Papandreou among others said that he would dedicate the first 100 days of PASOK ruling to deal with the financial crisis and restore confidence to the political system in an interview with the newspaper "Kyriakatiki Eleftherotypia" entitled "I Owe to Nobody, Have Nothing to Fear"

Specifically, he announces an "emergency economic recovery plan to inject liquidity in the market, increase in public expenditures, utilization of the ESPA program, targeted measures to support income of the weak and middle income classes, measures to maintain job positions, restoration of smooth functioning of taxation mechanisms, measures for a fairer distribution of taxation burden and radical reduction of tax evasion. He also spoke of renegotiating timetable regarding obligations as member of the Economic Monetary Union through a trustworthy mid-term fiscal purging program and return to high growth rate. The second target for the first 100 days of PASOK ruling is to take measures to restore confidence to institutions and the political system. He clarified that his intentions targeted to reforms to turn to a new page. The leader of the main opposition party said that Mr. Karamanlis, according to his usual practice avoids a television debate he has proposed. Referring to the Left, Mr. Papandreou underlined that ones unable to understand that we are a power of change, play the game of conservatism. We hope to meet soon with those prepared for rifts. Meanwhile, he reminded that he had called for investigation into all scandals and attribution of responsibilities in2004 and called the ND to stop underestimating the common sense of Greek citizens. All know that sudden close of the Parliament aimed to write off responsibilities and avoid clearing of cases. He also stated well aware of the country's economic situation but maintained that it can be reserved with a plan, willingness and hard effort if PASOK comes to power.

[02] Al. Tsipras: âSYRIZA will Make the Reversalâ

Addressing an open gathering in Lefkada, SYN president Al. Tsipras strongly criticized the government's measures to combat the financial crisis and repeated his positions on environment, ecology and social state. In an interview with the newspaper "Ethnos tis Kyriakis", he spoke of liquidity in the political stage and people puzzled before the financial crisis.

He also said that despite the figures in recent polls there is a greatest possibility than ever to reverse correlations in favour of the two large parties to the benefit of the Radical Left. In the meantime, SYRIZA parties nominees for the European Parliament Eleni Sotiriou and Stella Fotaki are touring the island of Lefkada.

    "SYRIZA will achieve reversal"

"SYRIZA will make the reversal" said A. Tsipras who underlines that voting SYRIZA means "enough to policies that give all to the few and privileged taking it out from the many, waste of public wealth, commissions, corruption and underestimation of our needs and common sense". Commenting on the scandals and the government's stand, SYN president criticizes the government for "speaking about clear terms at the moment when they are trying to hide scandals under the rug". "Green Development"

Referring to "green development" he said that the crucial question is " what is the move when private initiative comes contrary to environment", adding that one could not expect PASOK to resolve serious environmental issues such as industrial and urban pollution. Referring to the Ecologists Greens, he did not doubt their intentions but noted that their concept to leave politics behind and focus on ecology is insufficient, stressing that ecology without rifts is like wanting to make an omelet without eggs. In response to the GCP criticism, A. Tsipras said that SYN party does not criticize the EU. For SYN party the EU is a stage for social struggles, we are fighting to take it from the hands of the economic lobby and turn it to a democratic and social stage. He also stressed that SYN and SYRIZA insist on the broader possible unity of workers in order to avoid paying for the crisis. Earlier during his tour of Mesologi he said he felt we lived in a beleaguered society by forces who insist on unfair redistribution of wealth- the poorer to become poorer and the rich to become richer-. He spoke about a "party of the wealthy" which neither takes part in elections nor in polls but it is the prevailing party whose vision is low pensions and salaries down to â¬200 and â¬500 respectively, abolition of social state and cohesion and shrinking of labor relations.

[03] GCP: Condemnation of ND &PASOK

The general secretary of the GCP Al. Papariga blamed PASOK for conscientious anticommunism through unfair means in a counter-response to Theodoros Pangalos sharp statements about GCP relations with Germanos company. During her tour of Brahami suburb Mrs. Papariga expounded her party's positions on Euro-elections.

The general secretary of the GCP A. Papariga during her speech at the Ag. Dimitrios suburb spoke of the importance for high participation in Euroelections and condemnation of ND and PASOK, underlining that abstention favoured the two large parties. Mrs. Papariga also said that pilling up of problems since 91-92 have sparked dissatisfaction and disgust against the ND and PASOK parties, which should be punished for their anti-popular policy and lies. "Joining the EU, they did not refer to part-time occupation, stage programs and privatizations, they lied to people".

Mrs. Papariga launched strong criticism against small political parties stressing that only the GCP tells the truth to people and does not exercise "living room" politics as the other political parties from television channels. The GCP calls workers, young people, scientists to punish large parties and cast their vote for the party that can better represent them, We do not tell people that voting for a small party that never comes to power is a waste of their voting right. We only say that it is waste of voting right from a political aspect..

    Abstention from Voting

Abstention favours the two large parties, Mrs. Papariga said and called on disappointed voters to take the opportunity to cast a signed condemnationagainst the two large parties by voting for the GCP even if they are not in full accordance with the GCP because their vote will turn into optimism, hope and struggle in the next years . In an interview with newspaper "Eleftheros Typos tis Kyriakis" the general secretary of the GCP said that abstention damages the people and calls for a "useful vote", strong GCP and weakening of ND and PASOK. She also said that the government closed the Parliament o write off scandals and avoid the political cost but underlined that the bigger scandals are the "legal" such as "robbery of workers through laws passed by the ND and PASOK. Mrs. Papariga described the Greens party as "embankment of the system" and ruled out cooperation with SYRIZA because it is untrustworthy and signed the Maastricht treaty.
