An expert committee on sequencing social security has suggested radical changes in the way pensions are calculated and issued. The new way brings rises in pensions up to 30% for those insured in more than two pension funds.

"I must tell you that we are determined both as government and as the Development Ministry to resolve the problems regarding sequencing social security, because in this way we are completing the pension reform. We stand by the citizens. Our legislative initiative on sequencing social security will aim at facilitating the citizens and reducing the time required for pension issuance," commented Employment Minister Fani Palli-Petralia.

"Amidst a harsh financial period, the ND administration has proved it is by the side of the Greek people, offering solutions to everyday problems, aiming to make the pension system fairer," said Deputy Employment Minister Giorgos Kontogiannis.

GSEE, on its part, noted that while the reports provides some solutions, yet it fails to address the serious problems of sequencing social security and questions the government's credibility in addressing the problem that harms more than 1,000,000 insured and pensioners.
