With the pre-election fever soaring, the political parties are determining their stance at the customary political leaders' debate.

In his statements, the New Democracy Press spokesman said that his party would ask for at least one debate between Prime Minister Kostas Karamanlis and opposition leader George Papandreou.

‚We are not obliged to imitate foreign practices,‚ commented Koumoutsakos, further stressing, ‚We hope that the sorting-out of a series of details on how the debate will take place will not be a pretext for PASOK to walk out of the dialogue. He then rest everyone assured that Prime Minister Kostas Karamanlis would join the debate among the political leaders without requesting any preconditions.

Opposition leader George Papandreou, on his part, suggested the debate include a direct dialogue between the two key rivals for the premiership.
