No Big Risk for DanubeFriday, 08 October 2010 11:37
Optimistic are the results of latest tests carried out for potential hazards in the Danube River after the toxic red sludge from a spill at an industrial plant in Hungary. Latest tests show pH level at normal level between 8-8.2. Hungary's toxic-sludge spill, which killed five people and injured more than 100, reached the Danube river on Thursday. Hungarian authorities have called for cooperation of European states to deal with the situation. Officials said environmental damage may be limited because the level of alkalinity level from 9 dropped to 8-8.2.
