Athens, 03/10/1998 (MPA) The 2% rise in the Dow Jones index recorded yesterday in Wall Street and the recovery of the dollar toward the DM have raised the hopes of investors around the world that the stock market crisis will be overcome.

The easing of the pressures in the American market is attributed to the hopes of investors that in today's summit meeting of the G-7 in Washington the most powerful countries in the world will take specific measures to deal effectively with the economic crisis hitting the emerging markets.

Most European stock markets closed yesterday with big losses, while the Athens Stock Exchange suffered a heavy loss of 7.32%.
