Thessaloniki, 23/05/1999 (MPA) Prime Minister Costas Simitis is
continuing his party's campaign for the imminent European Parliament
elections, with a stopover at Patras tonight. Main opposition leader, New
Democracy's Costas Karamanlis, is to address an open rally of supporters
tomorrow in Central Greece, while other political party leaders are also
touring the country.

Thessaloniki, 23/05/1999 (MPA) Yugoslav Foreign Minister Zivadin
Jovanovic, in an interview to the Greek newspaper Macedonia, stated that
Yugoslavia was ready to participate in the talks on Balkan settlement, but
only after NATO ceases the bombing.
"Of course, talks on peace cannot be held under conditions of war and
destruction," he said. According to the minister, conditions for a
normal course of the talks are Yugoslavia's participation in the work at a
resolution that will be submitted to a U.N. Security Council meeting and
cessation of the bombings. Mr. Jovanovic said that the removal of Fatos
Nano from Albania's premiership post was part of NATO's planned attack
against Yugoslavia.
[03] MOST OF SERBIA IN THE DARK AGAIN AS NATO STRIKES POWER

Belgrade, 23/05/1999 (MPA) A large part of Serbia has been without
electric power since NATO aircraft hit thermo-electric power plants in
Obrenovac with destructive shells during the early morning hours today.
Serbia's power industry teams are presently trying to stabilize the power
supplies system in the country. Among the targets of the NATO bombing
overnight were the airport of Batajnica, Strazevica Hill, military
facilities in Rakovica and the area between Surcin and Jakov.
