    The annual US State Department report on the efforts against terrorism is very positive regarding Greece.

    The report, that was given to publicity today mentions, that Greece made significant progress in 2002 in the battle against domestic terrorism.

    It is stressed that for the first time the Greek authorities have arrested suspects for participation in the terrorist group 17 November. The 17N is characterized in the report as one of the most murderous terrorist groups active in Europe for the past 30 years and it is stressed that a trial is underway of individuals accused of membership in the terrorist group.

    The report stresses that the Greek authorities continue their efforts to dismantle other less known terrorist groups as well. Also, it is mentioned that Greece has cooperated in the efforts against international terrorism.
