Measures to deal with overcharging were decided on by the government, which is moving to strict checks to eradicate overcharging, while it is instituting the consumer's advocate. Fifty-four year old Charalambos Nenoglou lost the struggle for life after undergoing a mechanical heart transplant at the Interbalkan Medical Center of Thessaloniki. The 54-year-old exhibited a heart hemorrhage after the operation.

The excellent relations between Greece and Italy and the will for further development of the two countries' cooperation in the course of the EU's enlargement and the deepening of its institutions, as well as in the framework of Mediterranean cooperation, were underlined by the President of the Parliament Apostolos Kaklamanis and the President of the Italian Republic Carlo Azeglio Ciampi during their meeting today.
Mr. Kaklamanis mentioned the essential contribution of the two peoples to European unification and the role they are called to play in the creation of the European Constitution and the founding of institutions that are decisive for the future of Europe.
The President of the Parliament stressed that Cyprus' accession to the EU is a very positive factor of stability and development for the broader region, while he underlined that Cyprus' unity must be restored and the Turkish occupation forces must be withdrawn from the member of the European family.
Mr. Kaklamanis agreed with the Italian President that the future of Europe is still connected to the restoration of peace and stability in the Middle East, pointing out that requirements for that are the creation of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, as well as consolidation of the security of the people of Israel.
In ending, the President of the Parliament referred to the close cooperation between the Greek and Italian Parliaments, and the institution of the Euro-Mediterranean form as a permanent institution, to promote the strengthening of relations among Mediterranean countries and making the Mediterranean a center for cooperation, development and friendship for its people.
The President of the Italian Republic thanked Mr. Kaklamanis for his warm hospitality, underlining that there are very broad fields of cooperation between the two countries, which must be developed.

Thessaloniki's historic team Aris FC, is having to face up to the possibility that it may not be able to receive the participation certificate for the next major league championship, after it won its participation in UEFA with last year's championship. The Arab-Spanish potential buyers announced they were walking away from the team, while former Aris FC President N. Tsarouchas appealed to all team fans to participate in the new effort for the teams salvation.
