    HURRIYET (LIBERAL) PKK'S SOLINGEN
    Yesterday, the image of Blue Market, which was burned on Saturday by molotov cocktails hurled by terrorists, seemed similar to Solingen massacre in Germany that took place in 1993. German Nazis had killed six innocent Turkish people in Solingen and PKK Nazis killed 13 innocent people in the Blue Market in Goztepe, Istanbul.

    ECEVIT: ELECTION TO BE HELD
    Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit said that the postponement of the general elections on April 18 by the deputies who are disappointed because of their exclusion from candidate lists is not definite. ''But if the general elections are not held on April 18, our mission as the 56th government will end and nobody can hold us responsible concerning the postponement of the elections,'' he added.

    REVOLT BY SUICIDE
    High tension in politics, terrorism killing innocent people...A professor from Gaziantep University killed himself yesterday in a cave and left a note behind him: ''This country does not deserve such a degeneration. People can't bear to live here. I can't accept the things that are done to this country.''

    SECURITY MEASURES TIGHTENED
    After the recent bomb attacks on big shopping malls, security measures have been tightened in big cities. Meanwhile a bomb planted under a lorry went off injuring two people in Bahcelievler district of Istanbul. Another bomb put inside a Burger King fast food restaurant in Avcılar district was defused yesterday.

    DEATH SENTENCE FOR ERBAKAN AND 32 WELFARE DEPUTIES
    Nuh Mete Yuksel, the Chief Prosecutor of the State Security Court in Ankara has completed his indictment about Necmettin Erbakan, the former leader of the banned Welfare Party (RP) and his 32 friends. The indictment which will be announced today stresses that Erbakan and the other deputies attempted to overthrow the constitutional order by using state power and opportunities. The suit will be filed this week and Yuksel will request death sentence for Erbakan and many important names of the banned RP, including Sevket Kazan, Oguzhan Asilturk and Omer Vehbi Hatipoglu.

    WE'LL STOP THE ''DISENCHANTED'' DEPUTIES
    Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit said that ''I don't think of resignation at the moment and I told this to President Suleyman Demirel, too.'' Ecevit seems resolved to stop the deputies most of whom are disenchanted because of their exlusion from candidate lists and who want to postpone the coming elections. ''All legal possibilities will be used to prevent them,'' he said.

    CUMHURIYET (LEFT)

    THEY WILL BE REGRETFUL
    Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit said that the reasons behind the parliament's decision of continuing to work will lead Turkey to chaos, adding ''those who attempted that will be regretful. We are not responsible for the things that will happen after March 16.'' Noting that the attitude of Deniz Baykal, the leader of the Republican Peoples' Party (CHP) serves the interests of the Virtue Party (FP), Ecevit said he does not think of resigning.

    CHAMPION ECZACIBASI VOLLEYBALL TEAM
    Eczacıbası Women's Volleyball team became the European Champion by winning the last game she played with Italian team Reggio by 3-1. Eczacıbası broke a record in 41 years of Turkish volleyball by being the champion.

    EXTRAORDINARY MEASURES
    Official and civilian institutions have taken extraordinary security measures after the death of 13 people in Blue Market massacre that took place in Kadıkoy district of Istanbul on Saturday. Necati Bilican, the Director General of Security said that ''citizens should help the security officials by warning them in case of suspicious situations.''

    APPEARANCE OF ONE ASSAILANT DETERMINED
    Istanbul Police determined the appearance of one of the four assailants who hurled molotov cocktail to Blue Market in Kadıkoy district of Istanbul. Officials said that ''efforts are expended to determine the appearance of the other three assailants.'' It is claimed that the assailants belonged to ''Kurdish Revenge Brigade'' within the terrorist PKK.

    YENİ YÜZYIL (LIBERAL)

    ''LIFT THE BAN ON ERBAKAN''
    The paper asks Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit, Mesut Yılmaz, the leader of the Motherland Party (ANAP), Tansu Ciller, the leader of the True Path Party (DYP) and Deniz Baykal, the leader of the Republican Peoples' Party (CHP) to lift the political ban on Necmettin Erbakan, the former leader of the banned Welfare Party (RP). Only if this is the case, the deputies will be prevented from postponing the coming elections, the paper adds.

    DEMIREL:THIS IS WILDNESS
    President Suleyman Demirel described the molotov cocktail attack on ''Blue Market'' which was staged in Kadıkoy district of Istanbul on Saturday as a ''violent and insidious one,'' adding he is very sorry about it.

    TÜRKİYE (RIGHT)

    GREEK FM SPEAKS NONSENSE AGAIN
    Evaluating the statements of President Suleyman Demirel, Papandreu, the Greek Foreign Minister said that ''we fell threatened by the statements issued by Turkish President. If this continues like that, the result will not be good,'' adding they are ready to make cooperation with Turkey.

    TERRORISM CURSED
    People curse terrorism which has recently escalated in big cities especially in Istanbul after the capture of Abdullah Ocalan, the chief terrorist. Yesterday a hand made bomb went off under a lorry in Bahcelievler district of Istanbul injuring two people, one of them seriously. Besides explosive experts defused a home made bomb planted inside a Burger King fast food restaurant on Marmara Street, in Avcılar district of Istanbul the same day.

    [02] HAND MADE BOMB PLANTED INSIDE A BURGER KING FAST FOOD RESTAURANT DEFUSED IN AVCILAR, ISTANBUL

    ISTANBUL, March 15 (A.A) - Explosive experts defused a hand made bomb planted inside a Burger King fast food restaurant on Marmara Street, in Avcılar district of Istanbul on Sunday.

    Unknown assailant or assailants planted a hand made bomb inside the fast food restaurant in Avcılar district. Fortunately the staff noticed the bomb, the restaurant was evacuated and disposal experts defused the explosive device at the right time.

    Officials said that a possible disaster was prevented in the restaurant which was very crowded.

    An investigation is underway concerning the incident.

    [03] BLAST IN BAHCELIEVLER, ISTANBUL - TWO PEOPLE INJURED

    ISTANBUL, March 15 (A.A) - A hand made bomb went off under a lorry in Bahcelievler district of Istanbul on Sunday evening, injuring two people, one of them seriously.

    Unknown assailant or assailants put the bomb under a lorry parked on Yenibosna Dereyolu Street which later exploded around 19.50 local time.

    Police officials said that one of the wounded people is supposed to be the assailant who put the bomb. The other injured person is a soldier whose health is fine.

    Officials said that there was a water depot nearby belonging to the General Directorate of State Water Works (DSI) and the target of the attack could be the depot.

    Meanwhile unknown assailants hurled a molotov cocktail to a bus parking on the same street. The fire which was put off in a short period of time caused financial damage in the bus.

    Investigations are underway in connection with the incidents.

    [04] EIGHT PEOPLE WHO CARRY OUT ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES IN BURSA PROVINCE CAPTURED

    BURSA, March 15 (A.A) - A total of eight people who carried out illegal activities to protest the capture of the chief terrorist were arrested in Bursa province, it was reported on Sunday.

    Security officials said that Anti-Terrorism teams staged a series of operation after some attempts of collecting money illegally in the name of the terrorist organization PKK, arson attacks and molotov cocktails and they took into custody eight people, who were later arrested by the court.

    Officials pointed out that the number of people who were arrested in Bursa after the capture of the chief terrorist reached 16.

    Some of the suspects also propagated in favour of the terrorist organization.

    [05] PRESIDENT DEMIREL LEAVES FOR UZBEKISTAN - DEMIREL: ''TURKEY PLAYS A LEADING AND DETERMINING ROLE IN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF EUROASIA''

    ANKARA, March 15 (A.A) - President Suleyman Demirel left on Monday morning for an official visit to Uzbekistan and said that ''Turkey plays a leading and determining role in the economic development of Euroasia.''

    Addressing a statement at Esenboga Airport before his departure, President Demirel said that ''besides the rooted historical and cultural links between Turkey and Uzbekistan, our rapidly developing cooperation and partnership relations bring us closer to this friendly country.''

    Noting that he pays an official visit to Uzbekistan upon the invitation of Islam Kerimov, the President of Uzbekistan, President Demirel said he will be accompanied by Sukru Sina Gurel and Aydın Tumen, the State Ministers and a delegation composed of high ranking officials.

    ''We attribute great importance to our relations with Uzbekistan and we exert efforts to further improve our cooperation. We will exchange views on our bilateral relations, regional and international issues that concern our countries with Islam Kerimov,'' said President Demirel, adding Turkish enterpreneurs are among the most leading investors in Russia, Caucasus and Central Asia.

    ''During my visit to Uzbekistan, I will also open the Samkocoto lorry and bus factory founded by Koc Holding company in Samarqand, Uzbekistan. This investment of Koc holding company is the biggest foreign capital investment realized in Uzbekistan until today,'' added President Demirel.

    [06] NATO SECRETARY GENERAL DUE TO TURKEY

    ANKARA, March 15 (A.A) - Javier Solana, the NATO Secretary General will pay one-day official visit to Turkey on Thursday, it is reported on Monday.

    Foreign Ministry said that Solana will meet Ismail Cem, the Foreign Minister and Hikmet Sami Turk, the National Defense Minister.

    President Suleyman Demirel is expected to receive Solana, who will come together with Hikmet Cetin, the Parliament Speaker.

    The preparation studies of the NATO Summit that will be held between 23-25 April 1999 in Washington D.C. are expected to be taken up in Solana's contacts in Turkey.

    [07] KOC HOLDING'S INVESTMENT IN SAMARQAND - PRESIDENT DEMIREL AND UZBEK PRESIDENT KERIMOV TO OPEN MIDIBUS AND LORRY FACTORY ON TUESDAY

    SAMARQAND, March 15 (A.A) - President Suleyman Demirel and Islam Kerimov, the Uzbek President will open ''SamKocAuto JSC Factory'' which was founded jointly by Koc Holding company and Uzbek Republic to produce midibuses and light lorries on Tuesday, it is reported on Monday.

    SamKocAuto JSC Factory which will contribute to meeting the public transportation need of the Turkish Republics' and Central Asian countries.

    The factory was partly founded by Koc company (50 percent) and Uzbek firm ''Uzautosanoat'' (50 percent) belonging to the Uzbek Republic by a capital worth of 64,1 million dollars. Turkish Eximbank credit met 23.2 million dollars of the capital.

    The basis of SamKocAuto firm was laid down by Islam Kerimov, the Uzbek President and Koc Holding company administrators in June 1995 in Tashkent. The agreement on SamKocAuto joint enterprise was signed in May 1996 and the firm was officially set up in August 1996.

    The factory aims at producing 5000 midibuses and lorries annually and when it works in full capacity, totally 600 people including 10 Turks will be employed. 120 Uzbek craftsmen and workers were trained in Adapazarı Highway installations of Koc holding. The project also attributes great importance to the environment and a machinary investment worth of 33.5 million dollars was realized for the project.

    [08] LITHUANIAN PRESIDENT TO VISIT TURKEY

    ANKARA, March 15 (A.A) - Valdas Adamkus, the President of Lithuania will come to Turkey on Thursday upon an official visit, it is reported on Monday.

    Foreign Ministry said that Adamkus will stay in Turkey for three days as the official guest of President Suleyman Demirel.

    Adamkus, who will be accompanied by a delegation composed of Lithuanian Defense Minister and businessmen will meet with Hikmet Cetin, the Parliament Speaker and Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit.

    All aspects of Turkish-Lithuanian relations and some bilateral and international issues that concern the two countries are foreseen to be taken up during the meetings headed by the two presidents. The two countries will also sign an agreement on military training.

    The Lithuanian President and the accompanying delegation are also expected to visit western province of Izmir and participate in a meeting with Turkish businessmen after wrapping up their contacts in Ankara.

    [09] CONTACTS OF HAKTANIR, UNDERSECRETARY OF FOREIGN MINISTRY, IN CHINA - HAKTANIR HOLDS TALKS WITH CHINESE FOREIGN MINISTER TANG

    BEIJING, March 15 (A.A) - Korkmaz Haktanir, the Undersecretary of Foreign Ministry who pays an official visit to the People's Republic of China, met on Monday with Tang Jiagsuan, Chinese Foreign Minister.

    Addressing meeting, Tang expressed satisfaction over improvement of the relations between Turkey and China.

    Tang pointed out he believes that the relations will be further improved as a result of joint efforts of both countries.

    Korkmaz Haktanir underlined that China plays a significant role both in international and regional matters, stressing that Turkey attributes great importance to the relations with China.

    Following the meeting, Haktanir and accompanying technical consultation delegation have begun to hold talks with their Chinese counterparts.

    The technical consultation meeting is expected to focus on the international and regional problems.

    Meanwhile, Ji Peiding, the Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister, will host a dinner in honour of Turkish delegation later today.

    Korkmaz Haktanir and accompanying delegation are expected to proceed to Shanghai after comncluding contacts in Beijing, and are scheduled to return to Turkey on March 20.

    [10] GREECE'S EFFORTS TO SET UP DIALOGUE WITH TURKEY - FROM ANKARA TO ATHENS: - ''FIRST ACQUIT YOURSELF''

    ANKARA, March 15 (A.A) - Ankara stated on Monday that Greece who is in search of dialogue with Turkey, should first acquit herself regarding her support towards the terrorist organization.

    Reminding that Turkey has not received a concrete demand from Greece regarding a high-level visit between the two countries, a diplomatic sources told the A.A correspondent that Greece should first stop supporting terrorism if she aims at setting up dialogue with Turkey.

    Evaluating the possibilities of Greek Foreign Minister Yorgo Papendreu to pay a visit to Turkey or high-level officials from the both countries to come together at the NATO Summit in April, the reliable sources pointed out, ''Greece should first acquit herself and she should give guarantee in front of the international public opinion that she condemns terrorism and she will not support terrorism any more.''

    Yorgo Papendreu who had attended the unofficial European Union (EU) foreign ministers meeting in Eltville, Germany, had said that allegations claiming that Greece did not want to set up dialogue with Turkey would be unfairness to Greece. He had also said that a foreign minister should launch any initiative for the sake of his/her country's interests.

    Stressing that the policy to ''expose'' Greece's support to terrorism will continue, the same sources also said that President Suleyman Demirel had remarked before what Greece should do.

    Addressing members of the Diplomacy Correspondents Association last week, President Demirel explained Turkey's expectations from Greece as, ''Close the camps where terrorists are being trained. Hand over the terrorists and extradite them to Turkey. Do not provide weapons for terrorists. Put an end to any kind of logistic equipment support towards terrorist organization. Ddo not allow terrorist PKK to make propaganda in order to encourage terrorists for homicide and massacres. Do not provide PKK to act in the facilities on the Greek territories. Do not mediate PKK's money laundering operations.''

    [11] PRESIDENT DENKTAS OF THE TRNC DUE TO TURKEY

    LEFKOSA, March 15 (A.A) - President Rauf Denktas of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will leave tomorrow for Turkey, it was reported on Monday.

    Denktas will address a conference in Istanbul on the ''Latest Situation on Cyprus'' that will be organized by the Higher Technology Institute on Wednesday.

    Sukru Elekdag, a retired ambassador, Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Sosyal and Prof. Dr. Erol Manisali will also be in attendance at the conference.

    Denktas will proceed to Kocaeli province on Thursday and attend the opening ceremony of a photograph exhibition.

    Rauf Denktas will visit the Istanbul Culture Association and attend the ceremony in the Suleymaniye Culture Center in order to receive his award on March 19.

    President Denktas is expected to leave for the TRNC at the same day.

    [12] PRESIDENT DEMIREL IN UZBEKISTAN

    TASHKENT, March 15 (A.A) - President Suleyman Demirel arrived on Monday in Tashkent to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan between March 15-16 as the guest of his Uzbek counterpart Islam Kerimov.

    President Demirel was welcomed by his Uzbek counterpart Kerimov, Uzbek Prime Minister Utkur Sultanov and Umur Apaydin, the Turkish Ambassador to Uzbekistan, at the Tashkent Airport.

    Addressing journalist at the airport before Demirel's arrival, President Kerimov noted that the bilateral relations between Turkey and Uzbekistan will be taken up during the President Demirel's visit to Uzbekistan besides other regional and international matters.

    Pointing out that Turkey and Uzbekistan are two friendly countries, President Kerimov stressed, ''we should cooperate against terrorism. We need to make use of Turkey's power and experience to set up security and stability in the Central Asia.''

    President Demirel is scheduled to attend opening ceremony of a passenger bus and truck factory which was established by the Koc Holding, a leading Turkish firm, in Samarqand.

    Meanwhile, Turkish-Uzbek Business Council will convene in Tashkent during the official visit of President Demirel in order to discuss the opportunities to increase the existing commercial relations and to further improve the trade volume between the two countries.

    President Suleyman Demirel's visit to Uzbekistan is expected to accelerate the relations between Turkey and Uzbekistan.

    [13] EUROPEAN COUNCIL CONDEMNS TERRORIST ATTACKS IN TURKEY

    STRASBOURG, March 15 (A.A) - Russel Johnson, the Speaker of European Council Parliamentary Assembly (ECPA), said on Monday that he condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Turkey.

    Stating that he found disgusting the attacks which caused the death of innocent people and he was shocked, Johnson said that terrorism is the biggest threat for democratic societies.

    British parliamentarian said that terrorism targets the right to live which is the most basic human right, and it must directly be condemned.

    Johnson said that the ECPA always condemned the use of violence for political goals. No support, including the moral support, should be given to the organizations which use and defend violence for the solution of political, economic, and social problems, he added.

    [14] NO CONFIDENCE MOTION FOR THE GOVERNMENT

    ANKARA, March 15 (A.A) - A total of 24 deputies in the parliament initiated on Monday a no-confidence motion, claiming that their confidence to the government was lost. They criticized the expression of Bulent Ecevit, the Prime Minister, which defined the initiative of deputies who were not taken into the lists of parties for the upcoming elections to reconvene the parliament as ''civilian coup''.

    The motion signed by ANAP Kars Deputy Selahattin Beyribey and other 24 deputies was submitted to the Office of the Parliament Speaker.

    In accordance with the 99th article of the Constitution, the motion should be distributed to the deputies after it is submitted to the parliament. And the parliament should discuss to take the motion into the agenda in the following 10 days.

    If the motion is decided to be taken into the agenda, the date to discuss the motion will be determined the same day. The motion should be discussed after two days or before seven days from the day it is taken into the agenda.

    The parliament votes the motion one day after it is discussed.

    A total of 276 votes is needed to overthrow the government in the 550 seat parliament.
