  • [01] 'NATO Should at Long Last Strike Serbian Targets', President Rugova's Aide Says

PRISHTINA, March 24 (KIC) - "NATO should at long last strike Serbian targets", Xhemail Mustafa, a press adviser to President Ibrahim Rugova of Kosova, said today (Wednesday). "Further delaying [NATO] action is becoming pointless".

Last-ditch efforts, international diplomatic initiatives in the past couple of days have failed to persuade Belgrade accept a political solution for Kosova, Mustafa said, recalling that Kosovar Albanians have accepted the Rambouillet Accords last week.

'FRY'/Serbia has arrogantly rejected these diplomatic initiatives, Rugova's aide said. Thus, the Serbian regime has clearly demonstrated it has never stood - nor does it stand now - for a political solution, but rather a military one, in Kosova, Xhemail Mustafa concluded.

[02] Serbs Burn Albanian Houses in Podujeva, Huge Concentration of Serb Forces, Albanian Population on the Move

PRISHTINA, March 24 (KIC) - The Serbian shelling of the villages of Podujeva area was of a lower intensity today morning, but an appalling situation prevails in the town of Podujeva and in the villages, local LDK sources in town told the KIC.

Serbian forces started burning Albanian villages in a Podujeva neighborhood adjacent to 'Tabet e Llapashtic&s', a Serbian military and police base for three months, at the southwestern edge of the town.

The Albanian population of the villages of P&rpellac, Dumnic& e Ep&rme, Llaush& and Dumnic& e Poshtme, which have not to this day been directly affected by the ongoing warfare, have been fleeing their homes in fear of an expected Serbian forces' assault there, too.

A convoy of Serbian forces, troops and armor, which had been stationed at P&rpellac, at the Kosova-Serbia border, entered Kosovar territory and advanced into the center of the big village of Dumnic& e Poshtme, which has some 550 houses, virtually all Albanian.

Huge Serbian military and police forces have been stationed today in the compounds of the Brick Factory in the town of Podujeva, home to 20,000 inhabitants, 99 percent of whom Albanian.

Against the backdrop of a huge Serbian troop concentration and the burning of Albanian houses in the town, residents of other neighborhoods of Podujeva have been moving out towards relatively safer areas in outlying villages, local sources told the KIC.

[03] 14 Houses Burned, 200 Vandalized and Looted in Barileva Village of Prishtina

PRISHTINA, March 24 (KIC) - The Serbian forces' crackdown in the Barileva village, municipality of Prishtina, in the past few days has resulted in 14 Albanian houses burned and some 200 looted and vandalized, local sources told the KIC.

Most of the population of the village, excepting family heads, have fled their homes.

Serbian forces have been stationed in neighboring Leban& village, hugely restricting the movement of the population of the surrounding villages along the Prishtina-Podujeva area.

[04] Names of Seven Albanians Killed in Suhareka on Monday Reported

PRISHTINA, March 24 (KIC) - The LDK chapter in Suhareka publicized today the names of seven Albanians killed by Serbian forces in the town of Suhareka on Monday.

After the unsolved killing of a local Serb, Serbian snipers shot indiscriminately and killed Em&rllah Hoxha (70), Mehmet Em&rllah Hoxha (33), both of them residents of Peqan, Naser Abdyl Byty^i (33), resident of Suhareka, Xhemajl Haxhi Morina (35), resident of Reshtan, Ramadan Morina (48), resident of Reshtan, Fadil Haxhi Byty^i, resident of Suhareka, and Bislim Miftar Morina, resident of Reshtan.

During the Serbian forces' crackdown, several Albanian houses were burned in Suhareka on Monday.

[05] Serbian Forces Building up, Vushtrri Villages Shelled

PRISHTINA, March 24 (KIC) - From their positions in Mihaliq and Druar, Serbian forces shelled last night the Drenica region's village.

A number of houses in Mihaliq were set on fire at the same time.

Huge Serbian reinforcements were sent to the Vushtrri area last night and today, local sources said.

A Serb convoy of troops and armor headed to Pasom& village today morning.

At 7:40 CET today, Serbian forces started shelling the village of Pasom& and the Shal& e Bajgor&s region, an U^K stronghold.

A Serbian convoy headed to Kara^& village today.

Albanian people from the villages have been streaming towards the town of Vushtrri and relatively safer villages.

[06] Ka^anik Villages Shelled, Houses in Gajre Burned

PRISHTINA, March 24 (KIC) - A huge Serbian convoy of forces and armor headed today (Wednesday) morning towards Gllobo^ic&, a village at the Kosova-Macedonia border. A bit later, they started pounding U^K positions in the area.

The shelling was reported to be very intensive at around 11:00 Cet today.

Serbian forces moved into Gajre village, and started burning Albanian villages today, local LDK sources in Ka^anik reported.

[07] Serbian Forces Shell Villages in De^an and Gjakova Region

PRISHTINA, March 24 (KIC) - Since early in the morning today, Serbian forces positioned at Lumbardh, Irzniq, Gllogjan and Suka e Shaptejit have been shelling today the villages of Ratish i Ep&rm, Ratish i Posht&m, Dashinovc and Maznik, municipality of De^an, and the villages of Dushkaj& region of Gjakova, in southwestern Kosova.

There has been no immediate word on casualties and damage, local LDK sources said.

The U^K forces have been resisting the attacking Serbian army and police.
