SOKOLAC - Republika Srpska (RS) President Biljana Plavsic, congratulated Patron St.Nicholas to the Dabrobosanski Metropolitan , Nikolaj in Sokolac. The ceremony was attended by the president in the Presidency of the Dayton B&H, Momcilo Krajisnik, the vice-premier, Velibor Ostojic, and the mayor of the Sokolac Municipality, Milan Tupajic.

BANJALUKA - On the occasion of the 123th anniversary of the beer factory in Banjaluka, the RS vice-president, Dragoljub Mirjanic, opened a new plant for beer filtration which costed DEM 7,000,000,000. This occasion shows in the best way that the war is over and that our new state is moving towards better future", stressed Mirjanic.

SARAJEVO - RS vice-premier Velibor Ostojic, talked in Pale with the UNESCO representative for B&H, Colin Kaiser, about the development of cooperation in the field of culture. After the meeting, Ostojic explained that he exchanged information with Mr. Kaiser about the possible presentation of the achievements in the field of culture on the international scene.

SARAJEVO - RS minister of foreign affairs, Aleksa Buha, and the chief of the ICRC delegation, Stefan Baumgartner, talked in Pale about the registration of this organisation in Republika Srpska and its further work. According to Baumgartner, cooperation of this federation with the RS RC and the humanitarian aid of the international community for Republika Srpska were also discussed.

SARAJEVO - RS defence minister Milan Ninkovic, talked in Pale with the military attache of the German Embassy in the Dayton B&H, Wolf Kremer, about the peace stabilisation and the implementation of the Dayton agreement. A communique issued after the meeting says that minister Ninkovic expressed his deep concern because of the supplying of the Muslim Army with arms as a part of the "Equip and Train" programme, which is not conducted by European countries and which do not have any interest to do that.

BIJELJINA - RS minister for refugees and displaced persons, Ljubisa Vladusic, talked in Bijeljina with representatives of this Municipality about the housing of refugees. Vladusic stated that previously made agreements about the housing of refugees in this area, which are in accordance with the Abandoned Property Law, have been successfully progressing.

BANJALUKA - The presidents of the Labour Union and the RS Union of energy, Cedo Volas and Mirko Djukic, respectively, have sent a letter to the High Representative of the International

Community, Carl Bildt, in which they require the immediate release of four Serb union members who were arrested without any reason by the Croatian authorities in Odzak four days ago. The letter which was also sent to the OSCE Office in Banjaluka and the secretary-general of the European Labour Union Confederation in Brussels, Emillio Gabagli, expresses surprise and concern because of such events, we have here the union members who are, according to the international law, protected by immunity.

SRBINJE - The coordinator of the IFOR French troops situated in Trnovo, major Denny Boule, talked in Srbinje with the representatives of this Municipality about freedom of movement and the building of a concrete bridge in the centre of the town. In his talks with the mayor Petko Cancar and the Executive Board president, Radojica Mladjenovic, it was concluded that Muslims are moving freely on the road Gorazde-Srbinje-Trnovo-Sarajevo, which is not the case with Serbs travelling on the road Visegrad-Gorazde- Srbinje.

DOBOJ - IPTF requested for the unconditional release of the four Serbs arrested by Croatian police in Odzak on December 17, stated IPTF spokesman Andre Anieli at a press conference in Doboj. "We were told at the Odzak police station that the arrested did not possess anything suspicious that could provoke their imprisonment, so we requested from the Croat/Muslim Federation authorities to release them", explained Angieli.

DOBOJ - The spokesman of the IFOR Headquarters in Doboj, major Arthur Bilasky, estimated that, according to the present results, the mine clearance in the Doboj area will take two hundred years. At a news conference, IFOR spokesman stated that in 1996 year, 35 out of 2,700 mine fields were cleaned, which represents only one or two percents.

WASHINGTON - The US Administration has required from its team for national security to make a detailed plan of military options for arresting and bringing of indicted war criminals from the former Yugoslavia to stand trial at the Hague Tribunal., writes New York Times. Citing high US officials' statements, this daily announces that new special paramilitary police forces will be organised. They should operate under the umbrella and jurisdiction of the tribunal for war crimes and they should arrest accused persons.

AMSTERDAM - The Dutch daily, "Volkskrant", announces new political fights in Serbia. "If President Milosevic even succeed to overcome these fights and unrest, he will face a very rough period", writes Volkskrant's correspondent from Belgrade , Bart Reiss.

ATHENS - Several thousands of farmers left about 100 of barricades that they have been setting up along the roads from N to S of Greece, heading towards Athens with an intention to stay until the government improves their status. Being revolted by a unyielding position of the Greek government and the prime minister, Costas Simitis, farmers will visit the Ministry of agriculture.

DOBOJ - IFOR Nordic Brigade Headquarters in Doboj, should by the mid of January supply help to veterinary stations in the area of Doboj, stated major Girunda Vica.
