MAR. 8, 1997 DAY

NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BELGRADE - The president of Republika Srpska /RS/ Biljana Plavsic stated in Belgrade last night, after returning from Vienna, that a Conference about the modalities of implementing the arbitrage decision for the region of Brcko didn't bring any surprises. The conference, according the president Plavsic, was mainly dedicated to finding the way for quick implementation of Dayton Agreement in the region of Brcko, what, as she said, will not be easy at all. "We are aware", stressed the president Plavsic in the statement for SRNA, "that it will be difficult to implement accelerated implementation, and that for such undertaking, first of all, good preparations and financial assistance would be necessary.

BELGRADE - The minister of the foreign affairs of Republika Srpska /RS/ Aleksa Buha expressed last night his contentment by results of the Vienna conference, stressing the realistic approach of the participants in perceiving the modalities of implementing the arbitrage decision for the region of Brcko."What is certainly encouraging is the impression that the representatives of the international community finally realised what is what, and what is the real situation", stressed minister Buha in the statement for SRNA, after arriving from Vienna.

BRUSSELS - His Royal Highness the heir-apparent Alexander Karadjordjevic thinks that the Agreement on the special parallel relations between RS and FR Yugoslavia is of vital importance for Serbs on both sides of the Drina river. "The special connections were anticipated and agreed in the Dayton agreement, and protests of certain persons, like High representative of the international community, are unreasonable and unacceptable" - stated the prince Alexander to the SRNA correspondent during the yesterday's visit to Brussels.

BELGRADE - His Royal Highness the heir to the throne prince Alexander Karadjordjevic sent a message to the leaders of the coalition "Zajedno", to the students and citizens, on the occassion of the rally scheduled for March 9 in Belgrade, to be "decisive, but also peaceful", and to use only "peaceful methods in their struggle". "In the period which is in front of us it is necessary to show the decisiveness to go to the end, until the democracy is fully established in our country" - is stated in the message of the prince Alexander forwarded last night to SRNA. The prince deems that only unified, "but on the right way, we can get out of impasse where the one-party authorities have led us.

AMSTERDAM - The statement of the commander of the Dutch battalion of UNPROFOR in Srebrenica Caremansa that "it cannot be said that in the war in B&H on one side were good boys and on another bad boys", is further subject of tempestuous accusations of ministers and military top of the Holland. Namely, the Dutch political theatre is the battle field about the events related to the role of the Dutch battalion in battles around Srebrenica. Nothing better was with the Caramansa testimony at the Hague Tribunal, because "he did not accuse particularly the Serbian party".

SKOPJE - In Albania is still a complex and tense situation, because the president Sally Berisha did not reach the political agreement with the opponent parties that the resurgents from Valkona, Saranda, Delvin and Depelena would surrender the weapons. The reason is because the citizens do not believe to president Berisha and his amnesty, but also because he did not determine the date for non-scheduled parlamentary elections. Besides that, they require his resignation, urgent forming the new government and returning the looted money to clients.

TIRANA - The Albanian president Sally Berisha accepted the holding of elections for 45 days. "if the resurgents return the weapons" - stated for AFP the resource close to OSCE Mission in Tirana. The leader of opposition and the president of the Democratic Union Neritan Ceka rejected the Berisha's proposals, while assessing that, having in mind the temporary conditions, the elections should be held in next 3 to 6 months.
