    [01] President Clerides - British MPs

    Nicosia, Sep 14 (CNA) -- A delegation of British MPs members of the Foreign Affairs Committee, were received today by President Glafcos Clerides to discuss issues relating to Cyprus' accession course to the European Union.

    Sir Peter Emery, Ernie Ross and Eric Illsley will be having meetings both in the government-controlled areas and in the Turkish-occupied part of the Republic on the issue of EU accession.

    Head of the delegation, Sir Peter, declined to answer any questions of the press, pointing out that he would prefer to make statements after his meetings here were concluded.

    British High Commissioner to Cyprus, David Madden, Presidential Commissioner for Cypriots living abroad, Manolis Christofides and Under- Secretary to the President, Pantelis Kouros were also present at the Presidential Palace meeting.

    The British delegation leaves on Wednesday.
